The Last One She Expected (closed for lmcms)

"Just ..... a little." She whispered. The nurses had said over the next few days she should start talking a little more to start working the muscle or some such. She curlled against him as best she could with her injuries. "One ...... more?" She whispered asking for another kiss. She knew with him holding her she would soon be asleep but she wanted one more kiss first even as innocent as it had to be.

It made sense. An injury like she had to the jaw did need to be rested to heal but if it went unused, it could be bad also. "All right then. I won't ask you to sing me a song or anything," Tim said with a wink.

Her request sent another rush of masculine protectiveness through him, as well as a happy, sensual tingle. She wanted him to kiss her. God, how many times had he thought of that back in high school?

"One more." Though he wanted more than that, and he hoped she did also. "If you sleep well and feel better tomorrow...maybe you can have more after you wake up."

He carefully slid a forefinger under her chin and tipped it up before lowering his face to hers. He hovered near, his lips an inch or so from hers, for a few seconds as he savored the anticipation. Then their lips met in a light, airy kiss, a brushing touch of sweetness that made him feel both more satisfied and more desirous at once.

Noreen felt shivers and tingles of anticipation racing up and down her spine as he tilted her face up and hovered just abover her lips a moment before lightly brushing his lips with hers. It felt right, perfect even to have his lips on hers. She moaned softly as he pulled away but snuggled into him as best she could without hurting her self.

"Good Night Tim." She whispered almost dreamily. She was on a wave a pleasure from his kisses and even though she wanted more she knew that she could not so settled for cuddling with him as she eslowly drifted to sleep.

"Good night, Nora." She cuddled close and he sighed happily at the feel of it. This was very unprofessional and very much not what Rosenberg had in mind but at the moment, he didn't care and wasn't worried. She felt great.

Part of him wondered what it would feel like to sleep with her when she was healthy...but he really shouldn't assume anything.

He watched her as she lay with him, drifting off to sleep before not much more than ten minutes based on her breathing. He hoped she'd have better dreams tonight; it could be hard to tell. Her experience was terrible but compared to others he knew about...they'd both gotten very lucky.

He was awake after she feel asleep for quite some time. It was barely early evening and he was used to far later bedtimes. But he was also used to getting to rest infrequently, so it was only an hour or so later that sleep claimed him, curled up beside Noreen, one hand resting on hers.

SHe slept peacfully and woke early in the morning before dawn. She was confused for a moment and laid there adjusting to her surroundings and letting her memory come back to her. She gave a small smile and pressed closer to Tim being happy and comfortable pretending her life was diffrent until he woke up.

Tim felt something stir near him and his brow creased in confusion. That wasn't right. Why was there something in bed with him? The figure pressed a bit closer and he felt a warm form with enough soft, teasing touches here and there to indicate a female. What was...

Nora. He came more to waking, memory filling him. It was Nora, he was sleeping with her in the hospital. The clock on the wall said it was 6:03. The morning checks would be done soon.

He smiled sadly and then whispered, "Nora, I'm going to move, okay? The nurses'll be here to check on you soon." The doctor probably wouldn't be too far behind. "I'll just be right in the chair here if you want to go back to sleep."

Nora sighed in slught disappointment that he was getting up but she understood. She reached and held his hand as he rose and sat in the chair. "I been awake." She said slightly and pushed a button on the bed to turn on the dim light and reached for the board and marker.

Thank you for last night. I slept
safely with you here. I woke
awhile ago and was just enjoying
your warmth. How did you sleep?

She passed the board to Tim and sat the bed up a little bit so she was slightly more elevated.

She'd been awake? And she'd just laid there snuggled up with him...that touched him more than he thought it would. He felt himself smiling for no real reason but the expression didn't fade.

He read the message she wrote and handed the board back to her. "I slept well. Next to you, who wouldn't?" He blushed a little, realizing that was quite inappropriate, but then just shrugged. He did mean it, so there was no point to trying to take it back.

Tim stood up and stretched, groaning a bit as tensed and stiffened muscles loosened and moved freely again. "Always a little stiff in the morning," he commented. "I wonder if you'll be able to get out of bed today. It'd be nice to get in a little walk or two, don't you think?"

Norren smiled at him and nodded. Her legs and arms were fine thank goodness it was her torso and face that had been messed up.

If i was better I would help.
I feel useless in this bed.

She wrote on the board and showed him. She was happy to have rested well and to have woken up in his arms and enjoy the first of her day with him. She would really like if the doctors would let her out of bed today. Hell she would be happy to be pushed around in a wheel chair just as long as she was out of the room for awhile.

Tim read the message and shook his head, "Don't be so hard on yourself. Healing is hard work, especially when it comes with a dose of mental trauma too." He then smirked, "Though when you feel up to it, you can help limber me up anytime."

What had gotten into him? That was a terrible joke, even ignoring it as a lousy come on.

"Uh, anyway. I may need to go use the little boy's room. Want me to send anyone down here or grab anything on the way?"

Noreen laughed at him and reached for his hand kissing it. She whispered hoarsely "Breakfast?" smiling up at him before he left the room. She sat back closing her eyes and thinking about all the dreams that were starting to come back to life deep inside her. She had fallen in love with him in highschool and had to remind herself he had probably changed just like her but she could still feel that spark with him.

Tim thought about the last few days as he went to the restroom, cleaning up a little as well as doing his business. He brushed his teeth; Nora was so warm and seemed so desperate to see him. How much of it was genuine interest in him and how much was just trauma from what had happened?

He hoped it was genuine. This little time together...he was falling for her again, he knew it. They hadn't really been able to talk either. She wasn't the same person she had been then, but then neither was he. Would the revived feelings they had then cope with the people they were now?

He took the time to shave and went to the hospital cafeteria before returning to her room. Tim, as usual, rapped before entering and then came in with a tray. "Hey. I got some real breakfast, to see if you could handle any of it." The tray had scrambled eggs, a few sausage links, a biscuit, and a cup of orange juice. "Why don't you give it a try? I can cut up the sausages a little smaller if you want."

She smiled up at him. He was so kind and giving he truly made her heart melt everytime she saw him. "Please." She said taking a small bite of the scrambled egg and moaning loudly at the taste of real food on her tongue as she carefully chewed the tiny bite.

When she opened her eyes again she realised Tim was staring at her and she blushed realising with the sound she just made and her eyes closed and head falling back if one didn't know better they would think she had reached a sexual peek.

Tim stared at her as her head went back and she made a moan that started low and went high, breathy and passionate. Wow. Just...wow. That should not be so incredibly sexy but it was amazing! God, he felt a throb run down his spine and directly to his manhood.

He couldn't help but grin at her expression when she noticed, blushing a deep red. "I didn't think they'd be that good," he teased gently. "But...I've been curious for a long time about what that'd sound like so...um, awesome?"

Tim cut up the sausages into smaller pieces, "Uh, I can leave if you want some privacy for the rest of this." He winked at her, teasing again, but with a smile on his face.

She laughed at his reaction picking up an napkin and tossing it at him. "Brat." She said in her smokey voice even thogh her volume was still low. She went back to eating but it took a few times before she could stop laughing everytime the food got close to her mouth.

Finally she managed to get most of the meal down and was ever greatful but her jaw was starting to hurt so she had to stop eating. She grabbed the board and started writing.

You have slept in my bed,
served me breakfast in bed,
what are you sucking up for? :p

Tim laughed at her toss of the napkin, though her voice was a thrill even so low and soft. He didn't remember it being so smoky and naturally sensual.

He read her message and then handed her back the board with a shrug, "Well, maybe I want to increase the likelihood that I'll get to do those things when you're better." He flushed a bit as he said it, and at the implication of it. "Or maybe I just like to do nice things. Or I feel like maybe I should make it up to you for not being there after I left."

Tim walked over to her window and looked out of it. "Maybe all three."

Sh listened and watched as he walked away to look out the window. She felt her own guilt now that she had made him so solem she had only ment to make him blush and or laugh. "You have nothing to make up to me Tim you went and made a life for yourself and you came back when I needed you most."

She winced a little her jaw hurting from talking and lightly held up her hand over the sore part wanting to rub some of the soreness out but knowing it would only hurt it more. "I'm sorry Timmy I only wanted to make you laugh." She looked down at her lap.

Yes Noreen thought she needed out of this room and to stop saying things that were going to get her in trouble. She didn't look at him as she spoke again on a soft whisper. "Can you get a nurse for me please?"

He turned back to her with a small smile and a shake of his head, "Nothing to apologize for. I get thoughtful sometimes when a comment strikes me a certain way. It's not bad, I don't feel grim or depressed or anything. Sorry if I gave that impression."

Tim reached down to pat her joined hands and then take hold of them, giving a light squeeze. "Sure. I'll let them know you're up and want to see them." She seemed a bit down from his response...so even though he shouldn't, Tim bent down and kissed her forehead. "Be right back."

He took up the now empty tray as he left. A few minutes after he had left the room, a nurse came in with a smile at Nora. "Miss Campton, how are feeling this morning? That young man of yours sad you had a nice breakfast. Everything feeling okay with that?"

Noreen closed her eyes as he kissed her forehead and left. When the nurse came in she opened her eyes and gave her a small smile. "Miss Campton, how are feeling this morning? That young man of yours sad you had a nice breakfast. Everything feeling okay with that?" She asked.

"Yes, jaw hurts a bit. He not mine no matter what I wish." SHe told the nurse softly. "Just an old friend." She leaned back giving herself a minute letting the muscles in her face relax a bit before she spoke again. "Can I get a wheelchair and get out of here for a few?" She asked the nurse.

She didn't know what she was feeling at the moment sorrow hope a mix of all of them. She knew Tim wasn't hers but she felt hope that maybe just maybe he would want to be and after all he would be coming back to see her when she was healed.

The nurse, an older looking woman, raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Maybe he doesn't know it yet, honey, but I know it when I see it." She smiled, "I'll go check with the doctor but I don't see why not. Once he gets back, you might want to outside and get some air. It'd be good for you."

The nurse went off. For a few minutes, Noreen was alone with her own thoughts. Tim returned however, pushing a wheelchair in front of him, "Hey. Uh, the nurse said that I should bring this in for you. Apparently you should be strong enough to get in and out of it yourself, though I can help if you want."

He wheeled chair over to her bed and lowered the railing. "Do you want to try it?"

Noreen nibbled her lip nervously but she nodded and moved carefully so as not to cause any pain in her stomach. She set the board and marker beside her on the bed and reached for him to help support her as she made a move over to the wheel chair. SHe winced a little in pain as she sat in it but reached for the board and marker.

Thank you the nurse said I
can outside for some fresh
air.

She wrote down and then showed him.

She moved awkwardly and it was clear there was some pain sitting down; probably bruised muscles in her abdomen, his rational mind informed him. Once she was settled, Tim read over her message and nodded.

"Then let's go outside for a while. I think it's a good idea. We can go back in whenever you want though."

He felt a little strange pushing her in the wheelchair but that was likely just because it was something he'd never done before. They went through the corridors of her floor to the elevator, going down to the ground floor and then out into the little park-like courtyard the place had.

He took a breath of the morning air as they broke out of the hospital and into the air outside. It felt so much better than the sterile, vaguely cleaning supplies scented air inside the building. "That feels pretty good. Do you want to just linger here or should we walk around the area for a while?"

Once they got outside Norren closed her eyes and took a deep breath letting the fresh air into her lungs. At his question she opened her eyes again and looked around the little park area and she saw a little pond and foutain that looked peaceful.

Can we go over by the pond
thingy please?

She wrote and showed him the message.

Tim nodded and started to move her that way. "If you want to, you can just point too. I can probably figure it out." There wasn't much out here for one thing.

He wheeled her along the walkway at a slow, sedate pace. Normally he walked very briskly but they were here to relax so he was forcing himself to move slowly.

The pond turned out to be a little bubbling spring like fountain set into stone around some benches that then emptied into the pond basin. It was open around the little bubbling fountain, allowing for easy access. The water was clean and clear, leaping up and then falling back down before pouring down the slightly angled chute from the fountain to the pond. "It's a pretty place." He looked down at her, "Fits a pretty woman, don't you think?"

Noreen blushed and stuck her tongue out at him before looking at the water and breathing in deeply the smell of fresh water. She sighed and relaxed against the chair letting the sun fall over her skin. She closed her eyes as tears suddenly sprang in her eyes and she realised how close she had come to never feel the sun on her face or breathing fresh air again.

Her tears were silent as they fell from the corner of her closed eyes. They were tears of relief that she had lived and was here today, tears of shock that if not for Tim she wouldn't be here, and tears for Tim and the knowledge that in a day or two he would be gone.
