I *heard* that the new season starts Jan 8, 2006!! :D YAY! I love that show! :)

Can anyone else confirm this? I am so looking forward to the new season!

I heard that too, but thats in the states right? WE're probably going to have to wait a few weeks longer for it to hit UK. And my dream didnt come true... i was wishing and hoping and lusting and praying that they would bring Marina back (my original reason for watching the series...) Oh well.... let's see what happens next and which hot ladies they introduce this time around.

;)

I think I missed Marina.. I caught the end of her when she tried to commit suicide. I pretty much started at season 2 but I am hooked. I think I have seen some season 1 though.

I want to see what develops w/ the Jenny character. Anyone watch 'South of Nowhere?' It's a cute show...it might replace my 'the l word' fix, hehe. :rose:

Well I won't be checking it out this Friday.. going to Philly for the night..WOOHOO! But I will be sure to check it out sometime :)

Jenny... do u really like her? She's just plain weird. Part of me feels sorry for her. The other part things she's a bit of a pathetic character. I can't understand why someone like Marina who in my mind is such a strong person(despite her breakdown... yeah i know im slightly biased. But then again she only broke down BECAUSE of jenny!) would want to be with Jenny.

She needs to get her act together. No one who is so fucked up in real life gets to survive.

hehe, I can completely understand where you're coming from w/ Jenny. She's probably got to be the most unpopular character on 'the L word.' Yet, for me, she's my favorite. I'm actually just watching the show now just to see what becomes of her character. :rose:

Oh dear... there must be a reason for your fascination! You're going to have to tell me what it is that appeals to you in her character.... please?

*smiles* I like her, because she's a character I can identify w/ the most. It doesn't hurt that I think she's the cutest character as well, hehe. eeeh, perhaps I think she's the cutest, because I like her character the most...who knows. *innocent grin* :rose:

Marina marina marina marina marina....... if i say it enough will i get to touch her for one sweet second?

Finally, producers have written a clear coming-out storyline for Jenny in the first few episodes of Season 2. In comparison, Jenny’s Season 1 coming-out arc was confusing and fragmented; she went from one extreme (Marina) to another (Tim), and seemed to date anyone who expressed an interest in her, including marine biologist Gene and trapeze artist Robin (Anne Ramsay). Despite joining the gals on a trip to Dinah Shore in which Jenny delivered her “coming-out story” to an audience of partying dykes at the White Party, Jenny rarely engaged with actual lesbians about what it meant to be experiencing these kinds of feelings for the first time. Instead, the series writers attempted to deal with Jenny’s mixed emotions through her writing.

In the Season 1 finale, “Limb From Limb,” Jenny writes, “Jennifer I... JDS Jennifer Schecter... Jennifer JD am not too sure of who I am because there are several of me. a/k/a Jen They float up from me like phantoms. Sarah Schuster And slink off to commit acts for which I may or may not be responsible.” This attempt to demonstrate that Jenny felt as if she were different people all at once—one who was straight, perhaps, one who was gay—didn’t work.

The writers have taken a different approach in Season 2. Rather than exploring her coming-out issues through pretentious literary acrobatics, Jenny has been dealing with her life in person. In the first episode of the second season, an exasperated Gene tells her, “I'm sorry to break it to you, but you are a girl-loving, full-on lesbian!... Well, deal with it.” Jenny deals with it by unexpectedly breaking up with Robin, who has fallen in love with her and wants to move into a more committed relationship. Jenny explains with brutal honesty, “I promise you...that you do not want to get sucked into my fucking bullshit.”

Freed from the limitations of any relationships, Jenny now has the opportunity to find out who she is as an individual, and how she fits into the lesbian community. She tests the waters by edging into Shane’s group of friends and observing the way they interact with each other; she talks with Mark about what makes a woman look like a lesbian; and she takes the plunge that many women take when they are first coming out: she gets a haircut.

Some viewers may think that Jenny’s haircut—with lothario Shane presiding as the gatekeeper to authentic lesbianism—is a superficial stab at an overused coming-out symbol, but the scene is a truly pivotal one in the development of Jenny’s character. All that came before has been symbolically cut off along with her unruly mane; what comes after—embodied in a sleek, short cap of well-controlled hair—will determine whether Jenny’s reinvention has actually been successful.

One thing’s for sure—with the addition of the straight male pornographer, Mark, to the show, Jenny’s definitely not going to be the most offensive part of this season.

I just luv Bette ....

Best Seduction – Shane may be the resident heartthrob, but Bette is the real mack daddy. Her trip to New York in episode 2.04 (“Lynch Pin”) may not have landed her a grant from the Peabody Foundation, but it did land her a cute little number from the Starlight Bar. After downing a couple of vodka martinis, Bette swaggered over to the nameless brunette like the hottest shark you ever saw and asked, “Do you wanna dance?” Saying no was never an option.

Best Dressed – In a wardrobe department full of “eccentric” outfits, Bette’s closet stands head and shoulders above the others in terms of style, elegance, and that indefinable hot-damn element. Perhaps it’s just that Jennifer Beals has the grace to carry off even high-waisted trousers with suspenders, but even when Bette is down in her cups, she looks damn good. (An honorable mention has to go to Alice in her scrumptious Julie costume.)

I'm prolly like the rest of the world... totally smitten by Shane. *drool*

i've never liked that show, but then again i don't really like relationship dramas at all. also, i'm a guy. i don't really count.

but anyway, i always thought the butch girl was cute. androgyny rules.

That's shane... I lurve her.

Shane is someone I could have beer with (if I still drank) but damn Tina, damn, even when preggers was hott. I think the female body is a gift from the gods. (except mine, it got beat around in transport....lol) But I am so looking forward to the new season.

oh gawd yes! TINA! I felt bad for wanting to do such bad things to a woman so pregnant. Positively gorgeous!

I Adored the jail scene with the construction chick. it is not every day that a non-touch scene can be so erotic. Oh and when they finaly "decided" to do it.... oh Goodness that was hot. What i love about Bette is that she is so cool, calm and collective, but when she allows herself to be lead by her heart, the real passion shows. Some people might see it as a wekness, but i see it as a intensity - it shoms her softer vulnerable side and that is so appealing.

When Marina did not come back after the first series Bette was my reason for watching the show. SHe is so real.

As for her clothes, i'd much rather see her without them  Although she has excellent style and taste. Would invite her into my life any day.
