The Journey of Grace and Love

From where I’m coming as a man
To a brighter future where I will stand
No one can know but God above
For He directs my life with grace and love

I may not see each open door
But I’ll find the path that lies in store
For God will enlighten and surely call
If on this road I should slip and fall

And though this way is long and bent
I’ll journey ahead without lament
Knowing I will be carried by the Son
I will not quit until the job is done

I will not worry nor look behind
For I must focus on the upward climb
Keeping my eyes on the One who cares
As I count each step on heaven’s stairs

I do not wish to hide who I am
Just to win the praise of another man
That’s not who God would have me be
To darken the eyes of those who see

It dims the light that I might shine
If I should turn my lips back to the vine
So in His stead I must be strong
To turn my back from offered wrong

Espousing His mercy and total grace
By sharing it with others who I must face
Letting them know through the life I lead
That God is able to meet their need

From where I’ve been as a man
To the place of glory where I now stand
No one could’ve predicted but God above
For He guided each step with grace and love
