How can one feel such Mirth and Misery together?

To dive for treasure, emerging with the most presious and ellusive jewel. A jewel so vibrant and radiant, all who view it are awash in its brilliance and merriment. But to grasp this jewel is to be overwhelmed with fire and long forgotten desire. The closer it is clutched, the more it longs to be held by others. Yet, it's fire flares if you open your grasp to let it flee. The brilliance burns, the radiance blinds, the merriment cloaks the tears.

So is it better to leave resting such a jewel? To admire from afar? Or to grasp and clutch to your breast, even but for a moment, knowing the flames will leave scars that will never heal?

These are my thoughts today. Please feel free to leave your own.

Hello Bash,

Nice use of words this Sunday morn, sweets.

You left out an option or 2, risk the fire and have scars... if only to remind you of the jewel if/when you cannot see it, if only to bring a smile to your face over the memories. As for the "clutching too tight", that would end up smothering its flame... why not keep it close, bask in its warmth, feed its fire, and yet allow others to view it as well? For them viewing it does not mean they possess it.

To be overwhelmed by the desire and to soar and fall with The Jewel, would one be daring to feel the burn the fire leaves if The Jewel moves beyond.

Can the fire of The Jewel douse the desire? Can the merriment cancel the misery? Is the power of The Jewel so overwhelming that we are humbled into activity or passivity?

To see the brilliance and feel the desire, to engage in the merriment of The Jewel would we need to be humbled? Could we all know the powers of The Jewel are within us and radiate from us ~ we are the connection of The Jewel's electricity.

Wonderful and provocative thread Bash, thank you.

Thanks, darlin'. You are right about the clutching. But even in the enwrapping of the jewel within one's arms, the jewel does seek to be free of the embrass whilst also demanding to be enfolded ever tighter. The viewing by others yes, but the expressed desire to be held by others...well, the fire burns brighter, doesn't it?

As for smile of rememberance...yes, for one cannot hold this jewel and ever forget the warmth or the sparkle. Even in the longing, there is contentment to have held such a jewel.

You write amazingly well, darlin. Thank you for contributing.

As for merriment cancelling misery, is there not always some mirth to be found in misery? Whether in others or to hope to be able to see our own? Just as there is often misery within merriment. When two lovers quarrel, does it mean that they are no longer happily in love? Thus, the jewel burns and scars but reminds one also of the fiery brilliance.

WOW i am so speechless, not like me at all.Am wondering about smothering the flame tho.

Does the jewel know it's own self? Does not the brilliance reflect too brightly in the mirror to clear the image? And is it not the reality but the perception that defines the worth of the jewel?

Maybe Jewels is the only one who knows herself.Maybe others only see what shines outside the stone, but not what shimmers inside.

Perhaps the jewels does know. And doesn't want to be held. To be enjoyed fully. Perhaps the jewel longs only to flit about, touching, glancing, quickly caressing but not truly touching. Not letting others know the composition of the jewel. Rather, hoping the radiance will hide the flaws...not realizing that it is the flaws that make the jewel unique and worth holding.

I was thinking that The Jewel blinded those who sought to know her ~ that the brilliance of the sparkle was too bright. Each time she moved the perception changed so knowing her became that much more difficult.

The Jewel could be deflecting in order to remain brilliant and seemingly perfect ~ not knowing that the flaws make her real. And being real, flaws and all is truly was is sought. That is the reality.

(I so enjoy this thread.....)

Perhaps the jewel was injured by 1 before, so, thus protects herself, by not allowing 1 to hold her, w/ false brillance and fire to scare off the unworthy. Thus, making her favors hard-won; that is if the seeker has the patience and virtue to truly try for her favors and not for a mere trinkett to show.

Maybe the jewel is a hard stone for a reason.Nobody wants flaws in their jewels. They just take them to the jewelers to fix them...change them....then the jewel is not the jewel anymore. The jewel is something that someone else wants it to be.

Then that jewel is not what I wanted. Flawless gems I do not seek. I find joy in discovering the flaws. To see what lies inside, knowing that the fire within lights the brilliance without. To caress the jewel, to whisper my breath along those precious curves, touching, tasting, savoring each flaw.

I wish i was a jewel, instead i'm just a grain of sand on a beach in front of a bungalow . This grain of sand knows when she's been licked, in a manner of speaking :p time me to wash out to sea.

Umm, err, ahhh Mmmmmmmmmmm

The flaws make us real, they show the experiences of a life lived. Flaws can bring gifts which would never have been attained without the flaw or the cause of the flaw. If The Jewel only seeks the brilliance and the preception of perfection then she isn't living, I wonder is The Jewel wishes the fire to be extinguished so that she believes her outward persona is that brilliance and perfection.

Jewels with flaws can shine their brilliance in unexpected ways ~ flawless jems can only reflect one way, a false sence of perfection, something that does not exist.

Darlin, there is jewel in all of us. Even a grain of sand has hopes of becomming a pearl if it finds the right shelter. And if you feel you need to wash away, then may you finally wash into your oyster.

While patience is a virtue, darlin, time is not. the jewel flees and to hold it would be wrong. Let it be shared if it must. For there exist pain in both the jewel and the beholder.

but dear bluewizardlady, every grain of sand is a gem in itself... versatile, durable, comforting (or have you never buried your feet in the sand at the beach?) ;) and w/ every grain of sand, there comes an opportunity to become a pearl.

time may not be a virtue, but it is still a blessing. a blessing to remember the times of joys, as well as the hardships. for a true diamond can only form when it is placed under a great deal of pressure, for an extend period of time.
