Beverly man is facing federal charges after authorities said he sent a letter in February to Donald Trump Jr. that contained white powder and a message that said “you’re an awful person.”

The U.S. Attorney’s office announced Thursday that Daniel Frisiello, 24, was arrested in connection with the incident, which turned out to be a hoax. He was arraigned Thursday afternoon in Worcester and ordered held without bail.

I find this an odd statement. Interest in animal rights began in the 1800s. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) began in 1861. The Humane Society started in 1954. The World Wildlife Fund for Nature began in 1961.

No idea about the old man, but good point. Why kill what you can't eat? If one is left w/out a choice and/or in an environment lacking canned goods or grocery meats, it's understandable to hunt for food. But why do it senselessly?

US Constitution, Article I, Section 2, last paragraph, says: "The House of Representatives shall chuse [sic] their Speaker and other Officers..." and doesn't require them to be Members or even human. Same with Judicial appointments. Congresscritters, and Prexy and VP candidates, must be 'persons', but for all other federal jobs, anything goes. Gups could right now replace Speaker Ryan with a gay Irish Setter or Italian Furby and few would notice or care.

Dums will have difficulty ousting Pelosi if she oversees a sweep of Congress. She's reputedly the best House vote-counter of the last century. If you have some portion of a brain, you don't fire your most skilled mechanic.
