they're one of the wonders of the world


ours are about done, we've had so many. tried to use some of the last up today in fig and walnut cookies. they were ace first time around, but this time were a bit wetter and flattened out thinner... just not so good. i'm wondering if it was because the figs were on the squishier side, making the batter looser. dunno. still taste ok, but not awesome

We cannot grow them here, it's too cold.
The first time we had them, in CO 3 years ago, we were smitten.
It's extremely difficult to find them, but we happened into a Whole Foods that had 3 kinds (black, brown turkey and tiger) the other night and I was nearly giddy!
