ooh! the cows finally arrived yesterday after the owner came and did a bit more work clearing a fenceline and running a wire.

we have 6 mama cows, 6 calves, and a bull - such a cute little herd. the babies are all black, as are the bull and 3 cows. the others are brown, cream, and cream/mottled brown. the dog's all kinds of excited. last night he was barking and sorta scared about these big things suddenly in our pasture... today he's running up to the gate where they were all collected, wagging, barking then running off in a game all his own. the cows are just 'meh, silly puppy' :D

What breed are they? (Asks the country bumpkin)

lol, i wouldn't know - if i see the owner (he's renting the pasture) i'll ask. i DO know they aren't belted galloways or herefords, Friesians or Jersey or Guernsey cows (well, i'm not 100% about the guernsey since there is a reddish brown one), and i don't see a horn amongst them so i'm guessing they're no longhorns, and not aberdeen angus - anddddd that's about the limit of my scant cow knowledge :D

hmnn, just went googling and the black ones might be black angus, though they look NOTHING like the aberdeen angus' i knew back in the uk, which were big, red, and hairy. very hairy! ALSO: it says they are naturally hornless, so it's probably them

guess the ones i was told were called aberdeen angus' were, in fact, scottish highlanders  big? check. hairy? check. red? check. big fuck off horns? oh yeah

Big, red, hairy and naturally hornless. I know that fucker. :(

I'll take the strip steak. Medium rare please. Even a wee bit pinker is okay.

Salt and pepper it.

45 seconds per side, directly on the glowing charcoal.

Immediately into some foil for a 5 minute rest.

Good eats.

ya'alls can fuck right off with the hamburger digs.... *covers baby cows' ears*

oh, no, the big red hairies had horns... i was referring to the black angus' as having none. not that that implies you don't know a big red hornless hairy. not. at. all. *smirk*
