It's enough to make one consider the benefits of mechanical clocks. I'm very happy I still have my 40-year old, totally reliable Seth Thomas travel alarm.

When I absolutely, positively need to get up for an important event, I set it right next to the digital model. No battery or power failure is going to cause me to miss that train or airplane.

It's pretty much bulletproof.
