As one makes more and more trips around the sun odd things pop into one's head. This morning, while putting away laundry, I had the thought that getting older has hidden benefits. For instance, one is forced to buy new underwear every decade or so as the added pounds around the waistline make it necessary. One of life's unwritten rules, I guess.

Helos are more difficult to fly than planes.

I remember being in a helo one time when the pilot got lost— guy found his way back home by following an interstate highway.

The last time I was in a helo was flying out to a petroleum production platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

It was a foggy day and we were flying out toward dome property along the Lowe River just outside of Valdez. The fog got lower and lower as we headed out and soon we were following the road. Then I noticed that the eagles were just sitting in the trees, above us on the side of the ROW. A semi came around the corner at us and luckily, there was an opening along the road over the river, so we could slip out of his way. The pilot set down on a sandbar and we all caught our breath. Then, we flew the river back to town and the airport. There was no chatter over the headsets during the ride back.

Delightful!

Looks Dutch, by registration...

A friend of mine had one in Alaska for a while. He could fly from Anchorage to the Wrangells, wave soar at altitude (he had an FAA approved area), and glide back to Anchorage. He'd restart the engine when he got to the pattern.

Where'd he keep it? "pattern" suggests ANC or Merrill?

Do you think the "Lit Cam Models' figured their pictures would be used for going on ten years?

I wonder if any of them still shake their money makers? <ponders>

Love it when it rains in the morning and the sun shines through.
Finally a day off... Le sigh
:)

It has been raining for so many continuous days here underground power nodes are exploding, sand bags have been piled for days, my parents bedroom was almost flooded and I'm thinking about building an Ark. :(
