hey, humanity has voted as a whole over many, many, many generations and black hair wins. just accept it.

Is this the same franchise as Arthur Treacher's Fish and chips?

No purely local franchise. Surprising it hasn't grown outside of London. Food and service quite adequate. I would have thought Kitchener-Waterloo or down to Chatham would have gained franchises. Maybe Niagara region and Hamilton. Been around 30 years. Seems to have a good business model. Maybe Long John's has other regions locked up.

It's the second one that's more important. Depending on your level of dedication and desire to be competitive, it requires buying lots of cards. I haven't been in the game for several years but when I quit I had about 6 large card collecting boxes. Probably worth around $2k at the time.

Not gonna lie. It's a money sink but only because the game is addictive. I spent hours just building decks. But if you want to play in tournaments you have to keep up with the Joneses. Cards get phased out and you have to keep buying stuff from the latest expansions to stay legal. If it's just for fun though you can invest in a few pre-built decks and play around without going too deep down the rabbit hole.

Appreciate the thoughts.

Went to an "Open house" today and "learned" to play. It was fun. Was invited to participate in a tourney next week for the new expansion coming out. Might go, might not.

Money, yeah.

HELL, No!

Much, MUCH better. A local brand... only 3-4 restaurants. Not the best I've had, but good and consistent. Chips are just the right combination of crispy and flavourful.

Staff is lovely!

Any advantage to bringing out 20 years plus old cards or just outdated and outgunned?

My standard Archie's order is the bowl of clam chowder, garlic bread and cheese, large white milk, apple pie and a black coffee. Pretty much has most of my favourite meal ingredients there.

Not a huge fan of their fish and chips. Adequate to slightly less than.

Eggs benny is good. Construction breakfast everyday triggered my 2nd cardiac event I think.

AND, Wellington is miles better than Wharnecliffe, imho.

Most of the old cards are illegal in tournaments. They were a lot more powerful in the old days. I was talking to a guy at work that recently got into it and was surprised to learn that even stuff like Lightning Bolt or Dark Ritual were no longer in circulation. I had always considered those to be staple cards. There's no reason you can't play with the old stuff, but it would have to be just for fun. I'm also speaking based on what I knew at the time. Haven't followed Magic for a long time so it's possible there are tournaments that allow older cards.

That's dumb! Did they change card backs? How do they police age of cards? I have a 90s World Champion's All Black Deck but it has a black back and is not legal. Kicked ass then though. Sounds like Armageddon now!

To my knowledge all the card backs are identical. Never heard of any cards that were different. I'm sure they keep a list of what can be used. Back in the day, it was the 2 most recent expansions that were legal. I'm a green fan, myself, though I regularly cycled through playing all the colors.
