The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXII: Drunk enough that Paul Ryan seems a stand-up fellow

Confession: I have never been drunk enough to be attracted to a man. Paul Ryan or otherwise.

I am never drinking again....well, maybe this week....or maybe not this weekend....definitely not today.

I am not drinking today.

Wintery, stormy wind is blowing.

A good number of trees got naked overnight, and my yard is all oranges, reds, and golds.

But, it's Friday.

I have a hot date tonight with my favorite guy complete with snuggles and whatever animated movie we can find. May have to pull out the matching Jammies.

Drink of choice tonight hot chocolate with marshmallows, of course.

Goddamn, I sure am glad it was decided to have a Politics Board.

That was really smart. It worked like a charm.

It got rid of all the political threads and posts.

Gotcha.

You have Transformer jammies?

Now, now. Those that vigorously campaigned for a political speech ghetto had no idea that Donald Trump would need to be talked about here because he is so deplorable and filled with a dark, dark hatred. That changes everything.

A Spider Across The Room Can 'Hear' You, Study Finds

October 14, 2016
by Merrit Kennedy

Scientists found that Phidippus audax can also "respond to airborne acoustic cues."

Scientists have discovered a new kind of spidey sense.

We already knew that jumping spiders have exceptional vision. We knew that they are great at perceiving vibrations. We even knew that they can "hear" at extremely close range.

But in research published in Current Biology, researchers at Cornell University found that a common species of jumping spider called Phidippus audax can actually hear from much farther away than we thought — at distances of 10 feet away, or more.

"I've worked with these animals for a long time now and all of a sudden you realize that their world is completely different from what you thought," Paul Shamble, a fellow at Harvard and co-first author of the study, tells The Two-Way. "You thought they were just these little creatures of vibration and vision, and now all of a sudden you realize that they can hear, too."

Spiders don't have ears, as Shamble explains. He says humans pick up pressure waves to detect sound, while it appears that these spiders are able to "hear" because they have "specialized hairs that pick up the actual particle movement."

The researchers actually discovered this by accident, he adds. It started with a fortuitous chair squeak.

Jumping spiders are adorable.
I talk to them, and they identify where the noise is coming from.
They back up into their retreats, when you speak to them at close range.
That is the kind of spider I helped to get off the SUV and onto a tree.
I offered it a leaf, it preferred my hand.
I miss having very sharp eyesight.
I loved watching their eyes track everything.

remember when Friday nights meant something?

That's when a sport was a sport
And groovin' was groovin'
And dancin' meant everything
We were young and we were improvin'
Laughin', laughin' with our friends
Holdin' hands meant somethin', baby
Outside the club "Cherry Bomb"
Our hearts were really thumpin'
Say yeah yeah yeah
Say yeah yeah yeah

good song bro.
