resulting in the discovery that
a relatively common (on the board) wireless card
is not supported...

in lieu of going back to a tethered existence,
i reverted back to win7 premium
and am none the more
worried about
the "free" and apparently
somewhat mysteriously intrusive
upgrade

Win 10 upgrades are a breeze. I had more issues going to El Capitan.

Honestly I wouldn't put up with all of that. I only chose Windows 8 because Chris told me he could get me a WinXP interface for it with a special plugin.

I had the opportunity to attend a listening party with a group of people that are seriously into gear. He wanted input from the group on an isolation device for the turntable preamp. Rubber pads for the feet to sit on.

This guy has a ton of cash in equipment. I have never heard anything as sweet. The rubber feet did make a difference. Better? I think so. It was very subjective.

The rubber feet were 400 dollars each.

I wish I could hear that well.
