I had a very good spicy, sweet and sour, panko crumbs coated, shrimp dish that was billed as one of the house Specialties in a small Chinese restaurant that I wandered into in the high-end part of town.

Amongst the other descriptors they use the word pungent. I don't think it means what they think it means.

I'm thinking that the intended word was perhaps piquant.

That's quite interesting. I was not previously aware that one of several meanings of the word "piquant" was applied to taste. I only knew of its usage as an intellectual characterization.

In the foodie arena, the two words are not that far from being synonymous.

Holy fucking shit. It is the goddamned ninth of April and I swear to Christ there are some bloody snowflakes in the air.

Cyclist Dies After Crash, Heart Attack In Gruelong Paris-Roubaix Race

(NPR)...Goolaerts is at least the seventh elite cyclist to die in recent years, including two other Belgians in 2016. That's when Daan Myngheer, 22, suffered a heart attack during the Criterium International in Corsica and Antoine Demoitie, 25, died after crashing and being hit by a motorcycle in the Gent-Wevelgem race.

Last year, American Chad Young, 21, died after a crash in the Tour of the Gila in New Mexico. Months later, France's Mathieu Riebel, 20, died during a high-speed descent in the Tour de Nouvelle Caledonie, when he collided with an ambulance.

As Australia's ABC network notes, the list of cyclists who lost their lives in recent years also includes Iran's Bahman Golbarnezhad, who suffered cardiac arrest after a crash in the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, and Belgium's Wouter Weylandt, who died in a crash at the 2011 Giro d'Italia.

In these latitudes, it is considered an unholy offense of nature and a cause for panic.

Don't you know the difference between weather and climate? :)

Speaking of. Snow all day yesterday. And another eight inches in the forecast for Saturday. It's beginning to look like we're skipping spring this year.

Looks like no precip on the way for a week, here.

Spring has sprung.

It's flurrying outside right now. This is at least the fourth separate day in April we've had some snow, and I might have slept through a couple of others.

It was a fairly normal winter up until the part where it refused to end.

oh, it snows in april often enough. hell, there was a blizzard the week before i was born in indiana. a few flurries is nothing to get excited about.

Weather channel eh?

Went from 83 to 34 in one day between Friday and Saturday here in North TX.
