The human eye truly is amazing.

I'll be riding my bicycle downhill at a pretty good clip, say 14-15 mph (it's an unpaved surface). There are bugs in the air.

Somehow, even before I consciously see 'em, my eyelids manage to close before I get bugs in my eyes. I don't claim that it always works but it is astonishingly effective 95% of the time.

I don't understand it. As far as I'm concerned it borders on the miraculous.
