I don't know how many strokes it took but I finished in 00:08:46.

Damn. Just off the podium.

My stamps.com isn't working. Like my grandmother used to say, "If it ain't one damn thing, it's another."

At the same-ish time every day, I tidy up the cat's room (yes, he has his own room, and yes, I'm weird). I change the water in his dishes, make sure he's got a bowl full of kibble, and leave half a small can of wet food as a treat.

Today I had a spare moment while I was waiting for software to do its thing, so I replaced his water, topped off his dry food, but didn't leave wet food for him because it's not time yet.

Return to my desk, start working. After about 10 minutes, I feel this frantic tapping on my elbow. Turn around to see my cat walk toward the doorway to my office, then stand there glaring at me all, "WTF mama!" So I stood back up and prepared his half a can of wet food, even though (as I explained to him) it was still way too early. He just rolled his eyes at me and ate his food.

Cat gettin sassy.

I started giving my cats wet food as a treat about six months ago. Now they won't eat the dry food and sit and meow at me until I put more wet food in the bowl.

Pussy riot is coast to coast now it seems.

Back in the early days of cat ownership, I fed my first cat a full can (one of the little Science Diet ones, so not huge) of wet food a day. Brought her into the vet and the first thing he did was grab her belly fat and say, "Looks like we got a fat pad here!" After that, it was dry food for grazing and wet for an occasional treat. She did not like this AT ALL but eventually lived with it - until she died 10 years ago (from stomach cancer, not lack of wet food).

Had a scare with my current kitty a couple years back. A fill-in vet (our regular one was on vacation) gave kitty a painkiller for his legs. Five days later, my cat was in the hospital with kidney problems. He stabilized once the drugs were stopped, but his kidney levels never bounced back. Lately, he's developed tooth and gum issues which the vet says are incurable, so he eats more gingerly. He'll be 12 this year. For a feral kitty born with deformed legs, he's kicking ass - outlived his purebreed older sis. But I worry about him. He's been dehydrated and underweight lately. Hopefully he'll bounce back like he did before. Worries me though. My first cat dying was hellish and horrible for a long time. I know it's inevitable. Their lives are so short. But I just love the little guy so much. Imagining him not being here causes me physical pain.

So it's bowls of water all over the house (like doc suggested), and daily wet food. If he needed daily massages or pep talks, I'd do that too. Because I'm a sucker.
