my computer needs a new motherboard, this one that i've been using is a mcintosh...(i dont like it too much...it seems so limited in what it can do...)...if/when i get my new motherboard is it something i can just plug into my computer....also, my Sir, was told that my computer had a didnt have a regular motherboard so i couldnt just buy another one....hmmm, talk about limitations..it was one of the brand new dells when i bought one and a half years ago...
just curious
 
Downside of buying a "brand" is that they do everything their own way. You could contact Dell and see if they can replace it for you -- if it's only 18 months old, you may be able to get a replacement part.

Otherwise, you'll likely need to buy a new case and power supply to go with the motherboard. You should be able to rescue the other parts from the Dell though. Just keep an eye open because the Dell motherboard likely includes audio and video, so you will need to buy a motherboard that also includes those.
