So L got a job working in Edmonton for 7-10 days. I knew it was going to be crazy cold and that he couldn't wear his Sorrels because they aren't steel-toed. I also knew that he wouldn't "waste" money on new steel-toed winter boots. I was going to suggest he buy some foot warmers, instead, to keep his poor toes from freezing inside his work boots, but I also knew he would say he didn't need them and they were a waste of money. :rolleyes:

So, I didn't ask. I went and bought a bunch of foot warmers, plus hand warmers, and snuck them into his luggage. After I dropped him at the airport, I sent him a text to tell him what I'd done.

When he arrived in Edmonton, it was -30C.

He phoned me on his lunch break today and said, "You saved my life."

Yeah, maybe I top from the bottom, but whatever. It beats having a husband with frostbite. :)

L is a lucky lucky man. But I think he already knows that, and has known it for some time.

All of us who have someone who cares that much - and I'm one of the lucky ones - need to keep that closer to the tops of our minds. Especially me.

It's easy to take our partners for granted because they're always just...there. It's especially easy to overlook all the amazing things about them when they do those day-to-day annoying things that get on our nerves or don't live up to that bullshit image of perfection we're continuously fed by society.

If you have someone who really cares about you - you are lucky.

L's busted his ass for three years to give me time to write. I try to repay the favour in any way I can. :heart:

Yeah, I really should do something to cover my high forehead. But I just hate bangs, LOL. It was just an off-the-cuff pic that my friend took to show the new hair color, though. Overall, my hair doesn't look the greatest. Maybe I'll take some of me when I have time to make it look better. :)

Ooh, pretty Bunny!

I like bangs as a concept, too, but hate the execution on myself. On others they looks lovely, not so much on me. Mine stick out and are never, ever cooperative when I need them to behave.

Personally... I look forward to the day when I can dandle grandkids on my knee and say, not that I walked uphill both ways to school in six feet of snow, but rather that... in my day the world was ending every year or six months or so, but *I* survived.

So THIS is why I watched Doomsday Preppers the other day. (A guy blew his finger off demonstrating his preparedness. Hilarious, if you ask me, but I'm weird, so YMMV.)

Does anyone have any idea of the time zone of the end of the world?

And damn, I just got finished with the grouts in sauna.
