Ewwwww.. tea, with CREAM? Oooh yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk!

Now COFFEE with cream... that's yummy!

One of my favorite little bakery/restaurants in Chicago serves coffee in small silver pots with lids and a dollop of freshly whipped cream. And yes, the little silver creamer contains whole cream unless you ask for something different.

Yup, rules is rules lol.

Milk (NEVER cream, and preferably not even full-fat milk) for tea
Milk or cream for coffee
White sugar (NEVER brown) for tea
White or brown sugar for coffee.

I'm not too much of a tea drinker, but I can definitely see why low-fat milk would be better for tea. And I DEFINITELY prefer something heavier than milk in my coffee.

But brown sugar for coffee? Really? It's never even occurred to me to try that... I've never been anywhere in the U.S. where that was an option. I can't imagine it being bad though.... Wonder why we don't do that here? I'm going to have to try it.

Sounds lovely!

Sounds lovely!

Starbucks offers a choice of sugars at their you-add-milk-and-sugar stations. One of them is a dark sugar, though it's granulated so it might not be quite the same a the brown sugar you buy for baking.

It is a lovely experience. Add to the finely served coffee the taste of great pastry and tortes and you have a delightful experience.

You're talking about the Sugar in the Raw, right? In the little brown packets? Yeah, that's a little different from brown sugar that you use for baking, which is what I assumed the other poster was talking about, though maybe I'm wrong. Raw sugar has much bigger granules and I've never found it to dissolve properly in coffee. I keep adding more and more because it doesn't taste right, then find it all sitting at the bottom of the cup, undissolved. Not sure what that's about.

I use Splenda when I'm out. And usually a little half-and-half, but mostly skim milk. That's not how I like it best, but it's a calorie thing. At home, I'm completely addicted to Coffeemate creamer, which is so full of artificial chemicals, it's appalling, but one of them seems to be crack because I can't get away from the stuff. Expecially the peppermint kind at the holidays. Ad. Dict. Ed.

Ah, yes that's it. Sugar in the Raw. I've never noticed a problem with it failing to dissolve but then I only add sugar to my coffee once or twice a year when I get an odd craving for sweets.

My guess is that you may want to consider the possibility that your Coffeemate may be contributing to your continued youthful looks. All those preservatives and such, don't ya know?

When we have brown sugar in coffee, it tends to be brown granulated sugar (yes, just like you find in Starbucks.. we have Starbucks here too). We do sometimes use baking-type brown sugar (= your "sugar in the raw", maybe) in coffee, though.

Ha! The fountain of youth in a Coffeemate bottle! Shhhh! You're giving away all my secrets!

It seems to help me avoid other sweets, though. Feels dessertish enough to keep me from baking and eating an entire pan of brownies or something.

How do men manage to be born without a sweet tooth?!?

I lost mine in a bar brawl.

I have had both the brown sugar that was ment for coffee in Dublin, and "sugar in the raw" here as well as baking brown sugar and there are huge differences in all three.

baking brown sugar is really just molassis added to white sugar. (boy was that handy to find out when baking!)

Sugar in the Raw is a less processed form of cane sugar.

I'm not sure what the brown sugar they use on the other side of the pond really is. I do know it's not the same as what we serve at Starbucks though. That's one of those things where the chain specializes for it's market. Like McD's Ireland will never serve a McRib, and McD's Australia just got "chicken fingers".

I am addicted to Earl Grey. I live on that and plain rooibos.

I take all kinds of tea with nothing added - no milk, no lemon, no sugar.

Most Brits drink most kinds of tea with milk.

I don't take anything in my tea, either. Iced or hot, I want it straight.

I don't drink coffee, either. With, or without, cream and sugar. *gag*

It's also known as turbinado sugar. It's supposed to be better for you, because it hasn't been processed to death. K puts turbinado sugar in his coffee, and then adds like 1/4 cup flavored creamer (ie: LOADED WITH PROCESSED SUGAR). K likes a little coffee with his creamer and sugar. *blech*

You know that feeling when you find, quite accidentally, a kindred spirit? That one in a million who gets you, down deep, where it counts.

They might be older or younger, the same sex or opposite, might live next door or thousands of miles away...you just never know. But you realize, quickly, that you've made a friend for life.

That...is a very cool feeling.

And I've got it now.

I envy you. Those people are rare.

Well-put. Jackpot!

I wonder if it is even possible for my stockings to have that smooth look that I see thin girls in pictures have insted of the roll at the top that cuts off circulation that I get now

Must be 20 years since I gave up on stockings - even when I'm a good healthy weight, my thighs are just too fat to have stockings look (or indeed feel) good.

I wear stockings because at my weight all the tights are too long and I get puddles at my ankles. That's when I wear that stuff, of course. People think Californians are casual, but they aren't. Oregonians and Washingtonians are casual.

I think I'm on the same track.

And this is why.

I can get tights to look good, but I end up with wads of nylon around the top of my thighs that eventually works it's way down. So I decided to try stockings, and well I thought that garters looked hot, but even with garters they roll down and form a nice round ring around my mid thigh. Not very sexy, nor comfy, and I wear corsets so it has to be very uncomfortable for me to say it's not comfortable!

On top of that, lately all I can find are the kind with those "stay in place" icky plastic strips in them that doesn't keep the stockings in place but rather peals my skin along with them as they roll down.

And don't get me started on hip hugging panties!

Yeah, I have the same problem with thigh highs, but I have the same problem with well fitting tights, they roll down at the waist, and I'm constantly pulling them back up.

I bet you wouldn't mind that it's not comfy if it was sexy.

I hate those strips. They're evil.

And don't get me started on hip hugging panties!

I don't hate those, what I hate is the panties that are made for plus size girls but only have a thin strip in the crotch. If I wanted things climbing up my crack I'd wear a thong.

my indent is significant enough that I don't have the waist rolling down problem, blessed be. Except with anything that's hip hugging. Those hip hugging panties roll right down and ball up under my belly. Very unsexy!

I couldn't bring myself to wear the plus size panties. My mom's always worn those and I just get bad self image even thinking about doning a pair. So I wrote off wearing panties at all. *nods* a decition highly supported by every lover I've had after my ex husband. :D

God, yes, I know exactly what you mean! My online D and I talk about this all the time. As painful as it can be to have this with someone I never get to be with offline, I wouldn't trade that connection for the world.

I'm glad you've go it, too.:rose:
