If you take a cotton ball and pull it out flat like a pancake, put a little pile of black pepper in it and 1-2 drops of oil (mineral or baby works best, but cooking oil will work in a pinch) and then roll it very tightly like a burrito (with both end folded in), you can make a kind of ear plug that helps with ear infections.

There's some kind of reaction between the pepper and the oil that causes them to heat up. Makes the ear feel better because the heat is actually in the ear and it also helps draw the icky goop out.

So, I took my middle child to the ENT (ear nose and throat doctor) today. I FINALLY got the darn doctors to take me seriously about her snoring, mostly cause she's having chronic sore throats. Evidently her airways are really narrow, naturally, and add to that her adenoids have them 2/3 of the way obstructed. And her turbinate are blocking like half of her air ways. Chances are she has sleep apnea, cause she can't breathe.

Stupid, fucking doctors. I've been trying to get a referral to an ENT for YEARS, and they don't take me seriously until she starts getting chronic sore throats.

There might also be some of the smaller antique/mercantile/odds and ends consignment shops that will put them up for sale for a percentage of the sale. We have one of those where I live that ppl put all kinds of artistic and craft stuff in.

There are a few around but I can't really afford them. They want to charge to have the pieces. I wouldn't mind a commission but I can't afford to pay when the work may or may not sell.

I'd try Etsy before eBay - the community is more arts supportive, and the buyers there tend to appreciate/specifically search out one of a kind work.

As for shows - IMO stick with the jurried ones, exactly for the resume reason you just stated.

I just finished entering submissions for one juried competition. I've got at least two more I'm looking at this month.
