The intelligence of Our Leader**

Track Star 18 says that GWB is a pretty smart guy--smarter than Gore--, who graduated in the top 25% of his Yale class.

Liberals and the media understimate GWB's intelligence. What is your opinion:

Added: (**) Apologies to others around the world. I know he's not your leader; you just have to make do without his talents.

Thick as two short planks.

Sorry, I won't get any more detailed or technical than that.

No amount of statistics or waffle will change my mind, either.

Then again, he's not my leader, so what do I care? On the other hand, I do care, because Tony's got into bed with him on more than one occassion. I bet he'd beat him at chess, too. ;)

I think he's just acting dumb in order not to reveal his scheming to take over the world. If he REALLY was as stupid as he acts, he would be long dead because he forgot to breathe in and out.

I'll give him average intelligence as he might not be as quick witted as the clinton jerk he does better than most would. Maybe that is because he has not found himself in awkward situations to have to explain his personal actions. Gotta give him credit for that much!

None the less keep in mind he is not really running the show. Just look at the puppet strings next time he is on TV.

I think he's pretty bright. A genius? No, but his intelligence is above average.

But he does have a very bad problem isolating himself and staying a course despite all evidence to the contrary. And as far as liars go, I think he ranks right up there with tricky dick.

I would have a hard time just agreeing. I like to know the facts first.
I certainly would think his closet is full. And like any good parent you can't punish the child with out being sure. I only give him credit for not having been caught yet.

I can remember my Dad picking me up after getting into trouble. Explaining I would have to be punished for my actions.

I said, "But you did the same thing when you were younger? You told me so your self."

His reply was, "Yes, but I was not stupid enough to get caught."

i've known smarter rocks

I had a Pet Rock (TM) that learned "stay" pretty well ... George Junior is not smart enough to stay out of a squabble his father started with a tin pot dictator. If he was smart,he'd be doing more to support the students in Iran that are in rebellion against their facsist religous leaders ... oh yeah Georgie LIKES fascist religous leaders ...

Since when is it the Job of the US to support education (even at all) in other countries?

I think some people lost the true meaning behind what we are doing over there.

We have some really neat weapons. How else to you get to play with them?

GWB is not my leader. Nuff said.

Personally, I live in a fairy-tale country. You know, one of those with king, queen, princes and princesses. Our king (official head of state and figurehead puppet) was on a state-visit to the dictator sultan of Brunei yesterday, officially complimenting him on his "closeness to his people".

Wanna swap?

He's a genius, grossly underestimated because he is the ANTICHRIST! I'm telling you, no one can be that stupid to consistantly stay off message without being smart! Or stupid? Hm, must think more.

Tony Blair is NOT our Head of State.

Her Majesty The Queen is.

All we ask of our Monarchs is that they are members of the Church of England and legitimate heirs to their predecessor. We're not too bothered about the second if it suits us.

What we have received is dedication, a strong sense of duty, and a lifetime of hard work for the people of the UK, the other countries for whom she is their Queen, and for the Commonwealth.

And she puts up with our Prime Ministers!

Intelligence is not a requirement. Tact and diplomacy are.

Hm, tought we were talking about George W? I'm so West-centric. Tony Blair, Ogg? His puppet? Damn, need to think more. LOL - in fun. Hey - I share a Bday with Queen V . . . a holiday for both of us, well for me, seems she's a little gone :)

Not my leader, but our prime minister does his utmost to get the job of official GWB pet, and licking Tony, well... nuff said.

Like Ice, we have royalty. We're trying to get them just as powerless, but have not yet succeeded. :D

As a U. S. citizen, I have to say that I am very disappointed in him. (And no, I didn't vote for the man, but I held out some hope he would at least be competent.)

I don't believe he's had to work hard for anything his entire life. It's all been given to him - including diplomas, businesses which subsequently failed under his direction, a brief and still somewhat suspect military stint -

He strikes me as a happy-go-lucky frat boy; someone who still doesn't take the world and important matters seriously. You know, the kind of guy who'll call home for cash because the beer money ran out for the month.

Something that truly upset me was when he spoke at a college graduation two years ago. He told the students and visitors that you didn't have to get all A's in college. Because, he boasted, even a C student can grow up to be president!

(I'm going to go lie down now and wake up in November when he's gone.)

When asked if President Bush was dumb, columnist and author, Molly Ivins, being serious, said that he is not dumb, that he is just all Texan, wants to be macho and anti intellectual.

Personally, I don’t see much intelligence in his thought processes, the rare times we get a chance to glimpse his brain at work. I don’t mean the "Bush speak," not everyone can be a good orator and even some geniuses have speech problems, but saying things like, "bring it on" and smirking while giving a "State of The Union Address," to my way of thinking, are just plain dumb.

I'm reminded of a Simpsons Episode when it's discovered that Mr. Burns has a son. He wants to send said son to Yale, his alma mater, but said son is an idiot...

"Yale really could use an international airport, Mr. Burns"

I wonder how big the building that George Sr. had to donate is.

W is a poor public speaker (and there are CALENDARS with his bad quotes....several of them! to attest to it) and when he does speak I have to guess he's divergeing from the written remarks...or he can't read the big words that the speech writers are using so he makes up his own words.

Personaly I don't doubt his intellect. Handed everything on a silver platter or not you don't become president by being a complete idiot although intelligence is not a prereq I suppose.

I think he is an intelligent enough man, but one with a very narrow view point who has become adept at rationalizing to make the world fit within that narow view point.

He surrounds himself with people who are also willing to support that narow view. His lies are all aimed at supporting that view and as such are no better or worse than the lies that have been coming out of Washington since I was a child.

Bill Clinton lied, George Sr. Lied, Ron Regan Lied. I am not sure Jimmy Carter ever intentionaly told a lie, but I am sure those around him did when it suited them.

somebody must support him.....

Well, I am a die hard republican.

I want my earnings held for myself, my family, and will create jobs for many people. I have probably 5000 employees working in my several companies.

I find the democrats feel my earnings/wealth should be distributed to those that don't have it. Bullshit! I earned it all myself, hard work, still working with enough worth for more than several lifetimes.

Over the next 18-months, I should have another 1000 employees or so in new ventures. In the US. Not offshore.

Tax incentives do help. Being able to leave my "worth" to family is extremely important. I don't want taxed a second time on death.

I support George.

I do not think any democrat could of handled the 9/11 attacks to the ability displayed by Bush.

Iraq, as much as I hate to see the continued death of our sons/daughters, I believe that it was done with the best of intentions.

Now, I sit and wait to get blasted in the white box.

LOL!

Nahh, not blasted.

Actually, I agree with your stance on the post 9/11 situation. I tried to imagine Al Gore comforting America; I just couldn't do it. We needed a warm, slightly naive, benevolent figurehead to soothe and inspire. Bush worked.

But now?

Now I'm just hanging on until November.

:)

Well, I feel a little differently than you. I was an independent and I voted for Reagan. And I commend you for being a business owner and for not offshoring jobs. We're all Americans and I think we should support each other ... to me it's a moral responsibility to help my friends and neighbors.

However....

I drive on roads the government built. If I were to be unemployed, I would need my unemployment insurance. I need clean water, clean air, safe medications, and my sewage taken care of. I need my trash collected. I need police to protect me. I went to school for twelve years and I didn't have to worry about how I was going to pay for it. These are things that taxes paid for. As long as the government doesn't spend my money frivilously, I dont' mind paying my taxes. I don't mind contributing my fair share.

And I want the very best people in goverment who are going to try to run the country in a responsible manner.

But, let's face the facts here. Bill Clinton was the one who instituted welfare reform. Bill Clinton was in office with a budget surplus. During his presidency there were jobs added.

Now, Bush has turned the surplus into a deficit. There has been a net loss of jobs since he has been president, and I believe the only other time this happened is with Truman.

Now you say Bush did a good job with 9/11. I just don't see it. Osama Bin Laden was responsible for 9/11 and where is he? He's still out there somewhere plotting another attack. Fifteen of the attackers were Saudis, what have they done to curb the growing fundamentalism in that country? Bin Laden is apparently hiding out in Pakistan. Yet Pakistan is our supposed friend? The same Pakistan who has given weapons of mass destruction to North Korea, Iran, and Libya. The same Pakistan who is commiting terrorist acts against India.

No, instead our sons and daughters are dying in Iraq. Iraq who Bush said had links with Al Quada. Iraq who had weapons of mass destruction. Iraq who could attack the US at any moment.

Turns out it was all a bunch of lies. Turns out our friends in the middle east are our fucking enemies. Turns out our enemy Iraq, though definitely not a friend, sure as hell wasn't a threat. Turns out the people whose patriotism was questioned, were the most patriotic of all. They were and are the people who refuse to give up their freedoms for a false sense of security.

I think you are a good person Mountain Man, but I do think you have been misled.

I think you are right on the money with most every thing you said. However, I think you have to go back to Nixon to find another president who has lied as consistently as the current prez. Because it isn't just GWB. It's the whole blamed administration. It's as if everything they say is a lie. I blame Karl Rove and that other guy.
