The Inner Circle

Listen to the green person--she is correct, as usual.

It is 11 a.m., and already too hot outside for me to garden comfortably, so I have retreated to the cooler comfort of the house and am going to do inside-y stuff until this evening. I got 1 corner of one bed mulched and a handful of nasty prickers for my troubles this morning--someone tell me why I bother?

It's that masochistic streak you have. You obviously don't get enough abuse from the trolls!

(What's going into the beds? I'm thinking of just ordering the "flower balls" from Gardener's Supply, tossing them into the yard and seeing what happens)

Earning the eternal gratitude of Gaia?

Before long, your mild discomfort will be forgotten (or it will add to your satisfaction) as you sip your coffee and view your beautiful plants. Be sure to add a shrubbery, one that looks nice...and not too expensive. So say the Knights of Ni!

Jammies has K-niggets at her house? NO FAIR!

White-flowered lamium in the front bed, as I need some ground cover under the azaleas. Purple glads in the bed to the east of the driveway, along with clematis and trellises to hide the compost heap. Foxglove in the front bed where the bunnies ate all the tulips. Russian sage, lavender and butterfly beesh in the bed on the west side of the driveway. Lilies of the valley, more lamium, astilbe and toad lilies in the shaded areas of the wayback yard. A brand-new bed of all blue flowers in the middle back yard with a trellised mock orange I've been dreaming of since my vacation in Savannah. Morning glories and moonflowers over the sidewalk from the driveway to the front door. Dill, basil and cherry tomatoes in pots, and right now, that's everything I've bought.

 Morning, CC. Does my answer to Mal answer your question?

I know the herbs and the tulips, and I have a fairly good clue what morning glories look like, but ...if not for context, I'd have guessed that lamium is a biological component of newborn sheep. (My green thumb ran away from home long ago.)

Isn't it odd how quickly a person can feel ignored or passed over in the forum? You make some posts -- you spend time on them, even, putting ideas you've thought about and considered carefully. You address an issue that interests you deeply, perhaps, or just share some knowledge or a fact.

And then someone comes in behind you and says "Hi Cutee" to someone else in the thread, and your message vanishes in a hail of "hi" and flirting.

It can make a person feel resentful for the effort spent -- wasted, really. It makes a person wonder what the hell she bothers for. That person can withdraw from posting, feeling like anything of substance is wasted and worthless, not needed, or -- worse -- simply not interesting.

Or am I the only overintellectualized, hypersensitive, depression prone, moody, self pitying toadstool around this place?

To answer your last question first--hell no, we're all like that. *hugs*

I can rationalize to myself that sometimes my post is the last one on a page and that's why it gets ignored, and then something happens that makes me sure it's me being ignored.

That is exactly why I started this thread. No honest, good-natured post will go unanswered unless I am on my deathbed. Or in Columbus, which might be worse. :p

:rose:  You are a sterling addition to the AH, Mallie.

:D I like Mallie. It's like my own name. You are officially hugged for calling me that.

Sometimes I feel like I'm just being an ass for feeling slighted or forgotten. I like intellectual discussion as much as joking and flirting -- more, perhaps. I put a lot of thought into things I ask and things I say. Sometimes just knowing there's someone else thinking the same things makes me feel less like a toadstool.

So -- do you ever have Rebel jasmine in your garden? Or real honeysuckle?

Unfortunately, I'm too far north for those. I'm worried about trying the mock orange, although Spring Hill says it's hardy in Zone 5, and I absolutely fell in love with the scent of the stuff when I was in Savannah last year. If you ever want to read my Savannah travelogue, let me know and I'll e-mail it to ya.

I wish the petals would dry with the scent. Some day I'll send you dried petals from my Don Juan rose -- oh lord they smell good!

I'll keep that in mind. I'll be driving north next week -- I wonder if we can go through Savannah, since we are heading to Richmond?

I'd love to go back. *sigh*

Oh, and I tend to try not to say serious stuff, but if it makes you feel better, I'll PM you all the thoughts I don't post. :p

LOL. I'll listen to you be serious any time you want.

It's a new morning, I got another pendant made and am almost through with a pair of earrings. Have to do one more pendant and then maybe some rings. After that, some beaded stuff...do I have enough pearls? Isn't there an old pearl necklace I was going to take apart....

Hmmm

Whatcha doin' Jammies? You heard anything from Fuzzy Butt lately? OH, and we are going to at least drive through Savannah on our way north this week.

Morning, Mallie. I spent my morning celebrating spring by cleaning up downed wood, chopping same into little bits for recycling, planting things and mulching old and new flowerbeds. I am tired, my paws are filthy, I hurt everywhere and I am terribly happy.

I'm also dreadfully envious of your visit to Savannah. It's so on my list of places to go back to...

Busy girl is Jammies! I have anothe penant done. I plan one more today and then some bead netting...

Our Savannah experience will be more of a drive through, since we have to get to Richmond in good time, but I hope to at least get lunch there.

Yes, spring is here too... I watered the yard today (you must understand, I detest watering... we should have weekly rains!). I have done dishes and laundry, and like Mal, I've done jewelry... only one ring thus far, but at least it is done :)

He's so good. NO, he really IS good :) I'm a lucky girl.

You cried over the hyaciths, and you know it.

One more day. Just one more day here in retail heck. Then the long, long, long drive home. And then I'll be HOME and in my own BED with my own CATS....
