and waiting a few days between drafts...

Heh, wanted to make it a point to remind authors to make sure they check manuscripts for inconsistencies. I just got feedback because I accidentally made my hero 23 instead of 33 and my heroine 11 years younger...

Talk about grand mistake. Heh.

Anyway, have a great day all. The story has been resubmitted and approved with the proper ages.

Welcome to the Authors' Hangout.

I can understand your mistake. I've changed the characters' names part way through a posted story and had to draw a timeline for myself in one story's early draft because I had the heroine born when her mother was 8 years old.

Yep. You are so right. My valentine's submission I was at the deadline to get it submitted so I finished it and read back over it right afterward and missed a few things on it.

Welcome to AH :rose:

haha yeah, even worse, the story was posted and had a comment from a reader who liked it, but I went back last night before i knew about the comment and fixed it even more. Been reading my mentor's notes lately becaues she's still kicking my ass about order and paragraphing.

At least we have opportunites for "do overs" here. I've changed the color of a character's hair or eyes from chapter to chapter or had them wearing jeans and a t-shirt in one paragraph and shorts and a tank top in another.

Thankfully, my editor and my "beta" reader catches most of my blunders. After awhile, I don't see any of my glaring mistakes.

I'll add a few things like eye color, age, names, etc. at the top of my document. Often I scroll through for details to be sure I have them correct. Keeping it straight is all part of my OCD. If I'm not sure, I don't continue until I check it out. My editor has a good eye as well.

Neither one of you are kidding! I did that recently. When I was working on "Gift of Her Submission" for Renaissance E-books, I had my dom with two different eye colors, my subs with three different eye and hair colors LOL!

What's worse is when my mentor chews me out for shit, I end up redoing the story and editing so my paragraphing/actions are in order AFTER I've subbed the story here or to a publisher LOL
