Agreed. The only person on my ignore list was Brinnie for the scat pictures and I even tried reasoning with her for a time. To be honest, no-one else annoys me enough and I think even if they did, then I'd probably want to see what they had to say.

As for confused gender issues, well, I can relate there...It's a difficult situation on the internet in general and here it's even more confused...Can't trust people's AVs, sexual prefferences are no guidelines, self perception muddies the water further and to top it all off you certainly can't trust writing style!

But I still can't iggy. Searching for a slight on Roxelby I came across quite a few posts where I remember not typing something in response but responding to others instead.

I used to think MiAmico had me on iggy but then realised he was answering thoughts and questions by obliquely referencing points I had made without attribution. (He probably thinks I'm a girl too.)

Virtual Ignore

I'm still using 'Virtual Ignore'.

If I see a post or a thread started by someone that I have on 'Virtual Ignore' I just ignore it without using the Ignore function. That way I can see the posts in sequence and the threads started by the person I am virtually ignoring.

At the moment and for the past year, I have had no one on 'Virtual Ignore'.

Brinnie I had to put on the real Ignore function because of her images.

The disputes were furious but her response was to post large and explicit pictures of people shitting or being sick on every thread in the AH.

She may have been angry, but her pictures upset people who had never interacted with her at all.

And she must have had quick access to dozens of those pics because they came in rapid-fire sequence, thread after thread, in huge displays.

No, Brinnie was smart and funny, but offensive and irritating. Matthiew Craig isn't smart or funny, and I have him on ignore.

After Brinnie posted a really clever animutation on the board which she'd made herself, she went up in my estimation. I'm very tolerant of assholes if they're creative and original assholes.

My ignore list is quite full but I only have problems with going back to "view posts" with one person. Mainly so I can get mad and energized and beat the asshole at his/her (not saying which) own game.

I had Brinnie on ignore for a while, but took her off. She had quite a wit about her- interesting, but she did have her down side.

Ami, I kind of like. He is convinced his own views are the correct, and only, ones. No grey areas.

Reasons why FtF ignores people.

Actually, I can not only tell you who I have on ignore but why.

I have all the White Power trolls on ignore for obvious reasons.
I have BlackSnake on ignore because of exactly that- Bullshit. Since I've said several times I had him on ignore, I have no issue being public about it.
Wazhazhe may or may not still be on Iggy. Dunno, don't care. It was over a religious argument.
I have the redheaded fuckwit from the GB on ignore because he's a virus-loading idiot.
I'm not sure if I still have KRCummings on iggy. Morcheeba I believe still is. Both just because I don't particularly like them. Sexy-girl was, and Poppy was as well. I'd have to check and see.

I have about half a dozen people on ignore because they were rude, crude, lewd and refused to be backed off in PM. I had Amicus and Pure both on ignore and took them off when I could deal with them again. At one point I put Matthew Craig on mutual ignore, but I have since taken him off and delighted in tormenting him about putting ME back on ignore.
I think most of the GB regular crew has been on ignore at some point or another.

I regularly block everyone on my IM except my girl, so that I can actually talk to her without interruption when she can't be on the phone due to her situation or to work with my editor. It isn't anything personal, it's just like screening calls- let the machine pick up if it isn't the person I'm waiting on.

A lot of people get pissed off about that philosophy. I'm sorry it upsets them, but I'm not going to lie about it- yes, I put people on ignore for various reasons. My PC is the only way I have to get a lot of things done, and sometimes, I can't get things done through the distractions. So... no offense, but sometimes I have to deal with things. I still you all.

I have a number of people on ignore right now. It's actually helpful. I manage to get through my day faster and the people on ignore weren't going to say anything interesting anyway. You have to be a special kind of asshole to make it there, and it takes a while.

My criteria for ignore is simple: Are they angry, hate filled people?

I used to suffer from both those problems, was addicted to them.

So, like an alcoholic, I keep myself from being exposed to those things so I don't relapse.
