To my non US friends, it may seem like we're collectively celebrating the theft of our country from Native Americans, but we actually just treat Thanksgiving as a day to celebrate the people and things in our lives that we're thankful for.
All that Pilgrim stuff is pretty much a thing of the past.
Bonus, we get a day or two off work, and engorge ourselves with foods that we only eat once a year.

15 years ago the cartoonist's girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer. Once in a while he does a strip about where they're at with it. IIRC the greyed content is the stuff from the previous updates, the solid content at the bottom is the latest update.
