Got home from a holiday and there's koala poo all over the steps leading down to the front door. He or she was grunting last night, but I don't if the the beast is in the gum out the front or the taller trees down the back.

We get bats here, I love seeing/hearing them flap past at night. It's one of the things that makes me feel "this is my home" somehow.

Also possums and rainbow lorikeets. They're common here but I never quite get over how pretty they are:

My new apartment abuts a few acres of woods. So far we've seen:

Coyotes, foxes (red and gray), deer, Fishers (normally only hear them, first time seeing one.), an eagle, owls, hawks, squirrels, skunks, a bunch of birds, bats, a shit ton of rabbits, wild turkeys, raccoons, etc. We've even made a couple of crow friends via walnuts on our balcony.

We've only been here two months.

Before that I lived closer to the beach and near a park. There we often saw coyotes and foxes. There are a few high points that overlook the water out in the bay not far from there that I liked to go hang out. Seeing a giant shark take down a seal less than a football field away from where kids are normally swimming cemented my "I'm never getting in the fucking water here" position. (Uncertain if it was a great white, but it was massive and the right time of year for them.) Seeing dolphins in the same area didn't undo that, weirdly enough.
 
I dozed off and had a dream that I was dozing in a parking lot and somebody was messing with my car so I kicked at them. Now my foot hurts from kicking something beside the bed.

Important to make friends with the crows. You definitely want those guys on your side.

Sadly my SO is in away on business, he’s the photographer.

I didn’t want to get too close and disturb it. So just electronic zoom on my iPhone and hence rather grainy.
 
I wish I wasn't so terrified of spiders. I'm too afraid to keep up with the current thread here because I can't bring myself to risk seeing nightmare fuel. But YAY for butterflies!
