I'm back! Work is done until Monday! Yay!

A Mac user eh? We are, unfortunately, a dying breed.

That's you, me and M_S_N. May be we should start a club?

When I see all these threads about the trouble people with PC's have using IE, I sit here quietly smug :D

A coworker invited me to a barbecue party, since she felt sorry for me sitting home alone on Midsummer Eve.

I had a nice time - nice, not great. I only knew her, and Í know her very little. All the others were drinking heavily, some of them had been junkies in the past. Almost everyone was smoking. I have a cold, and spent most of the evening coughing.

And the only barbeque there was, were a few racks of meat and veggies, which the fmaily of the house ate by themselves in the kitchen, while we the guests sat outside drinking and talking.

I actually WOULD have had as nice an evening at home with the TV!

But I told my coworker that I had a nice time, which I sort of did, and I liked chatting with her boyfriend, who was nice. She suggested we should go on a double-date when Hubby comes over, or meet for coffee or something some afternoon. I said yeah, sure. Not because I want it all that much, but hey, I need all the pals I can get, while Hubby's not here.

I also got several hugs from a guy who looked exactly like Leonardo di Caprio.

Happy midsummer, and goodnight, y'all. Remember, according to Swedish folklore, if you go out tonight, on midsummer's eve, and pick 7 flowers, and put them under your pillow, then you'll dream about the one you're going to spend your life with - but you have to be completely quiet while you do all this, or the magic won't work.

Sweet dreams.

This jogged my memory back to grammar school English Lit lessons..........St. Agnes' Eve, by John Keats (extract only)

......................
They told her how, upon St Agnes' Eve,
Young virgins might have visions of delight,
And soft adorings from their loves receive
Upon the honey'd middle of the night,
If ceremonies due they did aright;
As, supperless to bed they must retire,
And couch supine their beauties, lily white;
Nor look behind, nor sideways, but require
Of Heaven with upward eyes for all that they desire

Full of this whim was thoughtful Madeline:
The music, yearning like a God in pain,
She scarcely heard: her maiden eyes divine,
Fix'd on the floor, saw many a sweeping train
Pass by---she heeded not at all: in vain
Came many a tiptoe, amorous cavalier,
And back retir'd; not cool'd by high disdain,
But she saw not: her heart was otherwhere;
She sigh'd for Agnes' dreams, the sweetest of the year.

She danc'd along with vague, regardless eyes,
Anxious her lips, her breathing quick and short:
The hallow'd hour was near at hand: she sighs
Amid the timbrels, and the throng'd resort
Of whisperers in anger, or in sport;
'Mid looks of love, defiance, hate, and scorn,
Hoodwink'd with faery fancy; all amort,
Save to St Agnes and her lambs unshorn,
And all the bliss to be before to-morrow morn.

So, purposing each moment to retire,
She linger'd still. Meantime, across the moors,
Had come young Porphyro, with heart on fire
For Madeline. Beside the portal doors,
Buttress'd from moonlight, stands he, and implores
All saints to give him sight of Madeline,
But for one moment in the tedious hours,
That he might gaze and worship all unseen;
Perchance speak, kneel, touch, kiss---in sooth such things have been

...*amazed at how the things people say, can jog my long forgotten memories*.

Thank you Svenskaflicka, I will return to read again, what was a long time ago, a favourite poem of mine and every other girl in the class. Youthful, girlish longings. *sigh*.

Friday evening nears, going home. Having 'haute cuisine' with opera loving friends tomw. night. Will be working to finish my contest story (can't believe how long it's taken; however, I do have a kind but truthful editor).

Special "Sleep nice" to Mat. and Señor Buggerlugs (don't ask).

adios, Perdita :heart: :kiss:

Damn, is it Saturday already ??

Mornin' all.
Flaming June once again in 'sunny' England..... in case you hadn't realised.......that was restrained Brit sarcasm.

I had to draw the curtains to check it was actually daylight. Perfect time to get icky paperwork up to date, with Classic FM top 40, plenty of tea, choccie biscuits and a few ciggies.

See y'all this afternoon. Mat has to be a good girl, and keep away from here for a few hours.

:rose:

off to hospital for mom check .. and bathing..
wishing you all a wonderful day.. rain or shine
