The History of the "F" Word

I don't know if I want to watch that link. Normally when someone posts a link to something cool sounding like that and it's an animation the animation is neat and interesting until the end. The end will contain a picture and sound combination that normally leaves me on the floor, shakey, and trying not to wet myself  (really a horrible side effect of giving birth that they don't warn you about, I can't laugh, sneeze, cough or be startled without leaking a little. It sucks.) Perhaps I will wait until my subbie gets home and have him open it while I watch from a distance.

Ok, I put on my headphones and listened to it.

Fuck is an acronym. It stands for Fornication Under Consent of the King. It was a carte blanche that the king would give his nobles, giving them consent to . . . . well fuck anyone, whether they wanted to or not.

If it was a play off the german word 'frichen' (pronounced freak-en), which means beat, (or so the little thing says) then it wouldn't be used in the context we use it in, meaning to have sex.

I'd heard a different story. I heard that in "old times", when a person was being publically punished for a sexual crime (Adultery, etc), then the person would have a sign hung from their neck which said F.U.C.K. (For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.) Probably not true, but its one of the stories floating around.

Both are interesting stories. All anyone seems to agree on is that it's an acronym of some sort. We'll probably never know the true history of it but it's fun to hear the stories.

That's as believable as the acronym of GOLF. Actually, Fuck comes from the Danish word "fikken" which means to hit. The word Fuck originally refered to hitting someone. Hence, only in a s/m context would "fuck" be used properly.

Here's a link that discusses some of the urban legends about fuck and where it originated.

I thought it came form the old rock band April Wine.

Their song "If You See Kay" had the lyrics...
If you see kay, tell her I need her
If you see kay, tell her I want her...

F U C K, tell her I need her
F U C K, tell her I want her...

Somebody should do a thread on the many ways rock bands have found ways to get the word FUCK into their lyics, song titles and album titles. No, I'm not talking about rap aritsts, I'm talking about back when it was still something you had to sneak in, behind the record company's back.

But, for the record, I just enjoy the word fuck. I'm not bothered by how it came about, I'm just glad it's a process by which I cum.

EDITED to add this disclaimer:
No, April Wine wasn't a band I really cared for. It was just one of those things that stuck in my mind and stayed.
