Calling all Audio and Videophiles, Video and Computer Gamers, Car and Tech Geeks.:D

There are alot of us out here, now we can have a place to hang out and talk tech with fellow geeks.

I will post my opinions, questions, and any news I have, tech related. Please feel free to do the same, I want this thread to be a unique place to be our techie selves. ;)

I'll start

I am a self proclaimed tech geek, audiophile, and gamer. I have a 53" projection Sony, along witha nice theater set up. PS2, GameCube, and a gaming computer w/ Gforce4 4400 TI, but I need to get the new i850E chip set and a P4 2ghz w/ a 500mhz front side bus. Then the system will scream.

OK. Now lets see haw many geeks come out of the wood work.:D

My mechanical geekdom is not electronic...

it runs more towards houses, automobiles and firearms. However, the concept of this sort of thread has run through my mind. My thought was a place where one could take his (yes, I'm being sexist and exclusionary) questions about things mechanical and/or electronic, and maybe just hang out with the guys and talk some trash like guys do sometimes, like hanging out at the garage, or the gunsmith's....or is this another thread idea???

You can stay here, WELCOME. All "geeks" welcome.

Glad you stopped in. :D

Thanx, oog!!!

I do repair/renovate old houses for a living, have licenses and insurance and years of experience, and all that happy crap - and I am NOT soliciting work. I don't have time to get to what I have and have a life anyway!!! So, I'll be happy to discuss any of that sort of thing.

Some things regarding the current state of autoes has passed me, but the basic mechanics are still similar, and I have fair common sense. I am working into firearms repair work, partly as an avocation and partly for something to do when I get too old to crawl around on roofs or under houses.

Neat idea, OB!!!

It won't....

Mornin' all

Just came across the thread and wanted to say thanks. Im not afraid to jump in, just don't want to get electrocuted in the process. Anyone know about alternative energy, h2o2? Doing extensive research to be grid free. {since 9/11 tired of not creating something of value.} By day, I push a calculator.

Nope have not even heard of that, but please share any info you have on that. This thread is open to everyone, feel free to stop by anytime.:D

I'm an IT geek currently slaving in tech support. I'm an RPG player in need of a new system to satisfy all my gaming needs. Soon, very soon :D

As with most mechanics, my own baby is a junker :D I'm big into the Final Fantasy games and Baldur's Gate. I'll try most RPGs :)

Cool, I am building a new rig myself, waiting to see what the new chip set being released in Nov. will bring. Plus it will give me time to save for a good P4 chip. :D

Have you tried the new RGP, Never Winter Nights ? I think thats what its called.

Oh I've heard about that one! I'd love to give that a try!

Okay, I am officially jealous! Summer's the only time I get to get back into gaming. School takes up a lot of fun time.

NPR's "all Things Considered" cosidered Grand Theft Auto III on the radio several days ago - a friend heard it - I missed it. The reporter, a gamer, described tooling down the street and listening to the radio - forgetting that it is a game!! That's virtual living!!!

NPR reports are available on NPR.com in the archives section, and they have some from several years ago....

Have you figured out whose kid just got this little jewel - and he took it to Florida w/ him, too - little begger!!!

Houston hacker

Let's see, my degrees of geekness:

1. Computer geek
2. Music geek
3. Literature geek
4. Gaming geek
5. Piano geek

Can I play something for you?

Why thank you, beautiful!

How old is she? How far along is her piano? I started teaching myself in grade school, and it's one of my favorite things to do.

What should I play for you?

I'm not much for racing games. I can barely sit through Grand Turismo II but give me a sword and armor and I'm ready for anything :D
