The Hammer Falls

have you published these graphic poems, yet? Don't forget you've got fans waiting to buy.

That poem gave me the chills. I piddle in illustrated poetry and occassionally stir some strong emotions in my finished art, but that one really did it for me. Straight to the gut. As champ says, you really should look into getting your graphic poems published.

Ditto this. The combo of those photos and the terse little lines is very powerful. You've created a new sub-genre of illustrated poetry (!), and I can think of a few places off the top of my head that would be very interested in what you're doing, places like Born Magazine.

Mutt, I think once the images and words are combined, you end up with a fantastic piece. But is this a "graphic poem?" Or something else? I don't know a lot about it, but either way I really like it -- immensely. I do think the poem would be a bit weak on its own. The images give it its strength. The overall effect is bold and chilling.

Thanks for the encouragement, y'all. I'm still exploring, so I'm not really ready to submit anything yet. But soon!

The combo of word and image made me think of No Country For Old Men. Chilling. You're very talented Mutt. :rose:

I don't have the definition of the "graphic poem" at hand, but whatever this is, it works. I don't think the words on their own should be judged without the context of the pictures in order to decide if this is successfully poetic or not. It's like listening to the soundtrack of a romantic movie to decide if the words constitute a romance. The soundtrack is meant to be experienced in the context of the visuals in the case of a movie and the same applies here.

My only problem with what I think is a brilliant piece is the fact that I noticed the gun was not pointing at me, but above and to the left of my left ear. Perhaps the gun can move halfway in the second picture and be pointing at me by the third for an overwhelmingly intimidating effect.

Hello dear Mutt. I've referred you to an editor of a new ezine, Alors et Toi ... I hope you see your way to success. I know, you've probably got great publishing houses and lit agents knocking down your door already. If they're not, I don't know what's wrong with their heads. ;)
