We talk lots about what we do write, and without giving ideas up, what's the greatest erotic novel you would want to write? Theme - character - era - location, its all good.

Me? And this is merely an example, please go in a direction you, yourself enjoy. I am still writing it (or several - lol) although the SDC has been a perfect venue for one (not a promo). Theme S/m because I still do not get how these two things mix in a contemporary way and I enjoy this and all dichotomy - era: 70's to now in my lifetime - location: Canada (so few exciting things from here), NY and France, despite my experience.

Just a beginning.

LOL - not every chapter is erotic - LOL - Its a novel with erotic elements So - a novel with erotic elements or not - what would you want to write if it was possible time wise? A greatest whatever you want novel?

I just posted a first couple of chapters.
Plot elements are- Rock and Roll music, a pair of slightly off-kilter main characters, several interracial relationships, the stress that success and failure put on a couple.
Erotic elements are vanilla one-one one lovemaking, three and moresomes, exhibitionism, BDSM, lesbianism, a little bit of homeroticism.

What's hard for me has been balancing the erotic scenes with the rest of it, evening things out... It seems as if there's a lot of sex all at once- in the first couple of days they're together- and then what? How do I sustain that?

Just a thought (and thanks for posting Stella - your thoughts and experience mean a lot) - Maybe backwards your story. What I mean is this: got a sex scene in mind? Great - what was it about? What is the crux of the sex? The discovery or conflict of it? In the sex you have a (lol) sperm of a story (theme or crisis or conflict moment) work from there.

So far.

Don't really have great ambitions when it comes to writing. Make what I'm working on the best I can do. That's pretty much it.

I've been kicking around the idea of love story, which takes place in post WW1 France. It will be about the philanthropist daughter of an American tycoon falling in love with a brash female American novelist, amid the rubble of the French countryside. I've written lots of notes, but I haven't really started to write it yet, since I'm working on another novel and have sworn to finish it first. I hate research, what can I say.

Location? Post Hurricane Florida.
On chapter three of possibly five or six chapters. (Up to over one hunder pages so far.) Some sex, okay more than a little sex, but a lot of emotional and interpersonal stuff as well.

The greatest 'erotic' novel will probably be "A Master's Ring" (The non-literotica version)... the sex tells a part of the story and was designed before I became far more interested in the story than the sex.

Although my personal favorite will be the original 'The Wolf Summers'... 400 pages 350 of them graphic sex... through and through as pure a stroke story as I may ever be able to manage.

Greatest novel with sex that's I'd like to get up to writing 'Nephylim'... Steven Brust's Reign in Hell meets Paradise Lost mixed by Catholic Paganism...

I like my sex to have a reason for occuring and in this story it's because angels believe -- 'There is one law... Obey The Throne.'

It pretty much let's them ditch all those socially unreasonable moral thingies.

And yes, I can hear the religious psychos screaming already... especially with a guest appearance by Yesu.
