So here is my question, I was trying to put together an excel file for my Yahoo group on the gretest erotic stories before 1953 (the appearance of Playboy and nude goes mainstream). It figures, the moment I sit to do this everything goes blank.

So what is everyone's sugestions for great erotic stories pervious to 1953?

Any help would be appreciated.

Off the top of my head...

Daniel Defoe - Moll Flanders

John Cleland - Fanny Hill

Frank Harris

The Pearl - Victorian magazine

Classical - Ovid Ars Amatoria; Petronius - Satyricon

The unexpurgated Arabian Nights (Translated by Sir Richard Burton)

Boccaccio - The Decameron

Rabelais - Gargantua and Pantagruel

Sir,

Thats a start, thanks.

Lady Chatterley's Lover, by D.H. Lawrence.

all I can think of at the moment.

Anais Nin (short stories - to many to recall), hm her lover (god I am a sieve tonight) Henry Miller )Capricorn somethng? DH Lawrence (sons and Lovers) Gertrude Stein poems and stories? Alice In Wonderland? (cough) Not sure if Maruarite Duras (The Lover) fits, even if her stories do. It is the best I can do right now.

Isn't that more of a 'How To' manual than a story?

Yes....but I think it still has a place in literature and is pretty darn smutty... :D

Just a foooool

This is true.

Unfortunately, I'm of an age that attempting half of it would merely make my chiropractor very happy.

Isn't that the point? To try and try again?

Some soft music, some warming oil and various attempts to create those lovely poses. Who cares if the bodies don't quite match the pictures?

Let's make sure that we have some friends that know what we're attempting.

If they don't hear from us within 24 hours, send help. :D

Until the thread marshalls come for me, or dinner, I ain't stopping.

Does whipped cream count as food?

Also, Just got a great idea for a story. Creative use of roses, thorns and all.

Oop! Dinner. Threadjack is over.

Thanks all. I'm familiar with most, but as I mentioned when I sat down, my brain cramped and went blank.

Now if I can just get someone to join....hehehehe

i do like 'a man with a maid' and some of the victorian stuff.

also Frank Harris.

But weren't you asking about erotica, not straight porn. many examples above are 'straight crotchgrabbing porn' which I know is erotic to some (males) but not as much to others (females).

I'm not sure of dates (pre 53?), but Miller's "Sexus" is quite a little romp.

CharleyH meant -
Henry Miller: Tropic of Capricorn; and Tropic of Cancer.

I would add
John Henry's magazine 'Bizarre' although it ran past the date. Available as a reprint from Tauschen Books.

Hank Jansen was regarded as erotic but seems less so now.
