So there is apparently an active shooter in the Washington Navy Yard, in SE Washington, DC. A friend of mine works there. I checked Facebook and she said she was safe in her office with coffee and cookies. It is odd -- but very good -- to be able to know that, from her, in real time. It wasn't that long ago where you'd just have to wait and find out.

According to CNN, the shooter is believed to have gone to a roof. The Navy Yard is a large complex, and the shooter is on the other side of the campus from where my friend works, so that's a relief regarding her.

I hope they get help to the injured soon and prevent any further injuries.

CNN is now saying that 10 people have been shot, including two DC police officers. Also that the shooter is a black male, about six feet tall and bald. He's said to have barricaded himself in a room and all the forces/responders are there.

I haven't seen any myself, but the Navy is tweeting out information and seems to be doing so pretty regularly keeping people as updated as they can.

At the moment I can only be glad my friend is on the opposite side of the complex where this is taking place.

And now Slate.com is reporting there may be three shooters. Not sure where they got that. Have not heard it at all on CNN.

And CNN is getting to the stupid point.
