I can't help but brag.

We scored a babysitter yesterday at $5 an hour! OMG, we usually pay $10. (we tipped well tonight)

We got reservations at one of the very few 5-star restaurants in town.

While we were waiting for our table, I turned $20 into $600 at video poker.

God I love this town.

How fortuitous for you! You need to keep that babysitter under house rule so you can go out lots during the year. I'm thrilled for you as I know how that feels.

Have a great time if you can get there, Jenny. I just returned from near that area and it was so cold. Make sure you bring lots of warm clothing with you so that when you walk on the boardwalk you stay toasty.

God, I love it here in MI. Babysitters here get a nightly rate, not hourly, unless it is more of a daycare situation. I usually pay $20 a night, for two kids, and a time anywhere from 2 hours, to overnight. If it's overnight, we pay a bit more, in tips, but it's nice not having to rush home to the kids if we are out with friends.

I have to agree with that Gilly. We have a fantastic, 16 year old kid who babysits for us all the time. If we are going to be really late, he just sleeps in the guest room. I give him $50, but I always feed him too so it all works out.
