The most memorable scene in The Godfather is the "Sicilian Vespers" -- Michael stands godfather at the baptism of Carlo and Connie's son while his men are out killing all the Corleones' enemies. "Do you renounce Satan?" "I do renounce him." "And all his works?" "I do renounce them." Jumpcut: RAT-A-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT.

What ever happened to that baby?

He never seems to be mentioned again. In GFII, Connie is still around, living a dissolute life with lounge lizard boyfriends, but her son is never mentioned. In GFIII, Michael is looking around for a successor, and, his own son preferring an opera career, Sonny's bastard is all that's available. Connie, again, is still around, giving Michael advice, but with no son visible. What about Carlo and Connie's son?

Was the boy, perhaps, put aside and ostracized because his father, Carlo, was a traitor?

They have 2 kids. One turns into a petty thief amd gets a throwaway line in part 2. The baby to my knowledge is never mentioned again.
Its not unheard of. There's a whole murder in The Big Sleep that is forgotten about.
