My question isn't all that strange; We've read about other people doing this in mainstream sex books (Nancy Friday, etc.)

I agree with Tiggs in that it does seem to be very mainstream here in the US. But we were raised to believe that we are above dogs in the chain of life and so shouldn't have anything to dowith them other than pets. Unfortunately, a not insignifigant percentage of suburbia is the "mainstream" spoken of here.

There are tens of millions of people who still live the 70's chic "it's not wrong if it feels good" lifestyle and each taboo, no matter how repugnant to me or you, is only a hurdle to be jumped or another line to be crossed.

While I am not much with bestiality, I don't think a licking or two is going to seriously impact very much, just maybe confuse the dog.

Dogs are pack animals. Studied domesticated dogs gone feral into a pack behave like wolves do, wolves are extremely close.

Two things these animals do is 1)Mongamously mate for life, and 2)Follow the never changing Alpha Male and Alpha Female. In your dog's life the Alpha Male is your husband and you are the Alpha Female. By allowing it to participate in your sexual activities (it knows what fucking is), you are confusing it about it's role in your life. It may begin thinking to replace the Alpha Male, in which case he may begin exhibiting manners to your husband thats threatening, and towards the children (if any) that are more in keeping with a dog's idea of what Alpha Male should be doing. On the other hand, it may not do anything at all.

My personal opinion is leave the dog out of it, but thats me. No one has ever bothered to do a study on the effects of human/dog sexual relationships on a dog, or on a person. There really is no way to tell what the outcome on this whole thing has on the dog.

The other thing you should consider is the impact a sexual relationship with the dog might have on your marriage. Hubby may begin to resent better orgasms from the dog's tongue and you may begin to resent screwing the dog just to get him off. Some people have the emotional wherewithall to handle things like this, some people don't.

You aren't alone, alot of men and women have done this with all sorts of animals, and alot of men and women get turned on by the business. However, I wouldn't call it mainstream by any stretch of the imagination.

I agree with killermuffin. I have studdies wolves all my life and although i agree with killermuffins reply, you can't associate domestic dog behaviors to that of wolves. Sure dogs decended from wolves but that was many hundreds to thousands of years ago and domestic dogs have lost many if not all of their old pack behavours...when was the last time you saw a pck of domestic dogs roaming the streets with an alpha male and female in the lead....?
