The Gentle Giant hockey dad.

So he gets 6 to 10 years. Who knows, he could come out better of worse at the end of that time. But how in the fuck does the defense lawyer sleep at night portraying him as a Gentle Giant when he used to beat the hell out of his wife in front of the kids? Good thing the jury didn't buy that story despite not being told about the wife beating.

Sometimes the American system of evidence frustrates the hell out of me. French courts are the exact opposite - all evidence about the accused is presented, and the judge determines if the defendant acted in accordance with his character for the crime in question. The American system presumes the opposite - previous behavior is not indicative of a person's behavior in a specific incident, so it is almost always excluded.

If we took spousal abuse seriously, OJ would just now be getting out of prison for one of the many times he beat the hell out of Nicole, and this retarded hockey fuck would still be behind bars.

In a national survey of over 6,000 American families, 50% of the men who frequently assaulted their wives also frequently abused their children.

Child abuse is 15 times more likely to occur in families where domestic violence is present.

Men who have witnessed their parents' domestic violence are three times more likely to abuse their own wives than children of non violent parents, with the sons of the most violent parents being 1000 times more likely to become wife beaters.

Children who witness violence at home display emotional and behavioral disturbances as diverse as withdrawal, low self-esteem, nightmares, self-blame and aggression against peers, family members and property.

A comparison of delinquent and nondelinquent youth found that a history of family violence or abuse is the most significant difference between the two groups.

Over 3 million children are at risk of exposure to parental violence each year.

I thought I heard it wasn't his first altercation with another parent, either.

Gentle Giants my ass.
Wasnt that the same defence Tysons lawyer tried to use in his rape trial..

As I was growing up both my parents were very abusive.. to me and each other... Speaking as someone who grew up in a hostile situation I really can't understand how domestic abuse is such a laughable offence... I think alot of times people don't want to admit it is happening.. and those on the outside don't want to admit things like that can happen... that soccer dads beat their wives or molest their children...

I feel truly sorry for the victim's family. I mean they have lost him forever, while not-so-"gentle" man gets to spend less than a decade to pay for it. I only wish sentencing in this country was heavier when it involves a life lost.
