A classic from southern Germany, Maultaschen (Mouthbags) with potatosalad.
Maultaschen were invented by German monks during a fasting period in a monastery in Maulbronn. They are like big Ravioli, but filled with minced meat, sausage meat, spinach and parsley. It's believed that the monks tried to hide the meat, which they were not allowed to eat during fasting. So they cut big rectangles from noodle dough and rolled in the meat. Maultaschen are also known as "Lord (God) foolers"
