The wreckage of a Boeing 737 passenger jet after it was hit by lightning during a storm in Colombia on Monday. The plane split into three upon landing but, miraculously, there was only one fatality - a passenger who later died of a suspected heart attack.

121 aboard and she dies because she's scared to death!

That is amazing that they survived....and pertinent to me personally as in one of my novels, a lightning strike cause electrical damage and a loss of fuel over the Pacific causing a ditching of the passenger aircraft...more confirmation to my thesis...

thank you!

It is said that "Any landing you walk away from is a good landing."
However, landing in bad weather can make you push your luck!

When your time's up, it's up. BZZT! Game over. ;)

Have you watched the documentary on the USAir landing in the Hudson. Although their problem was due to bird strike the events leading up to and including the landing would be what your current story is about.

For each type of plane there is an angle of attack and speed that it would have to be at to survive a water landing. The USAir flight needed to be at 11 degress AOA and 150 knots as it touched down on the water in order to not break up.
