Polygamy is generally seen as a patriarchal society, one man with multiple wives.

Is there a matriarchal society equivalent - one woman with multiple husbands?

Yes, but mainly in other countries.

Eh, polygamy is one thing, polyamory is another.

I believe in polyamory but its a rough row to hoe.

There's no such thing as "patriarchy."

Its a made up slur for a non-existant idea feminists made up. Doesn't exist, never has.

I think polygamy is natural and some people have the ability to maintain and love with equity. I would prefer a legal polygamy compared to polyamory for practical reasons, and the burden of responsibility.

I don't think that biology supports one female combined with multiple males because the biological father of the offspring would be unknown. And it would be almost impossible to satisfy the needs of multiple men-- given time off for menses, etc.

Nature drives for reproduction and there is more product on the linear line with one male on multiple females. And I think there are more women in the world compared to men. War and early death decreases the male population, and so on...

I am sure it exists in some places. I just don't know where, and I can't understand the rationale.

The flip side of polygamy is actually the dudes who can't get wives because one guy is hogging a bunch of them up.

that reminds me, people into this kinda thing really need to get showtime to cancel that fucking show because they make polymarous people look like whiny, self centered assholes.

the softporn is nice, though.

You're right.

I've swung but never considered polyamory.

Until now.

Being poly in the science fiction & fantasy convention/Renaissance Festival community around here is so common that people don't even remark on it. It's often assumed if you within the community and you don't make a statement to the contrary, you are too.

Swinging is something else all together, and I don't know many here who do. There are groups who play together but the are also close friends.

Don't you get tired of eating turkey legs every day?

I am not out there more than once a summer at most, but most of the workers/vendors/entertainers/staff (Festies) are also in the con community.

Lordy! Who would want more than one husband? Unless one has to clean the toilets. That might work.

Everything Sweep said and then add on that until recently child birth was sufficiently dangerous (and being pregnant is still time consuming from a producing children point of view) that multiple men dedicating themselves to one woman wasn't really a winning plan as opposed to the opposite.

If something happens to the one I have (and I hope it never does). I am done. No more husbands.
