I'm getting ready to make a move across town next month, so I've been going through all my shit and dumping everything I don't use anymore or don't want. It feels satisfying to rid myself of all that extra garbage... and I mean bags and bags full of garbage! Books I never use, clothing I never wear, old notebooks I don't write in... It feels like a weight is being lifted from my shoulders.

What does clean feel like to you?

It means I don't have to walk around my apartment feeling disgusted with my laziness.

Did you donate your old junk to someone who can use it?

 I have to admit to being very bad about that. Some things seem to carry my signature - the imprint of the past. I wouldn't want some of those things to exist when I'm so set on looking forward to the future...

Although, I guess I could have been a little more charity minding... :(

Blackbird....
I know *exactally what you mean. I bought my home back in December, and in going through all of my things....I couldn't believe the amount of "stuff" that I had just laying around.

So many boxes of clothes I donated....bags of garbage that I pitched....it was most definately a liberating experience.

And..I was only in the apartment for 3 years.

Amazing
V~

I love moving into a new apartment after having tossed away the crap.

Everything is in it's place. There is no clutter.

And then, by week 2, I start collecting again!

Have you heard George Carlin's routine concerning "shit."

It is great! :)

Clean feels like my hair after a good wash when it is so clean it nearly squeaks to the touch.

I like the feeling of having everything picked up and being able to laze on the sofa with a cup of tea and a book. Knowing that I don't have to do anything.

Cleaning is good...

I did the same thing last time I moved, I made myself throw out various notebooks and things which were a part of me in the past .. but I knew it was time to get rid of them.

Well, I'm not one of life's hoarders, so my lair is generally clean and uncluttered.

Heh... I think the last time I cleaned my room was three months ago. I don't even remember the last time I went through all that shit under my bed.

I've got two very large boxxes full of M:TG cards... anyone want them? ;)

I'm a pack rat i hate to throw things away. Everytime i do i need it. to me clean is knowing were everything is.

I get what your saying Black_Bird. A move is great for feeling renewed. Across town isn't really far enough.

One thing I did like about all the moves we made (military brat) was the feeling of starting over. Nobody knew my mistakes, or who I was. I could start all over, even with a new personality if I wanted to. It was one of the few good things to come out of it. The rest of it sucked big time. Really big time.

Plus with the military moving us, we had to get rid of most of our un-needed shit. :( Stuff I sometimes still think I have, and will look for. Don't go overboard B_B throwing stuff away.

We've been in the same place for two years so I've accumulated a lot of junk. Over the past month, I've been getting rid of a lot of it. Old magazines were tossed, tight fitting clothes went to charity, and kid's toys were fixed. Everything is back to being neat and organized again instead of cluttered. I'm just hoping to keep it this way until school ends in a few months.

much to my wife's chagrin..... I am a pack rat

I think it comes from being raised by frugal parents and grandparents. Grocery sacks make good garbage bags
Bread wrappers will hold anything
you always need a rubberband for something
I dont know where that screw came from but I am sure it will fit something someday
yes that lawn mower doesnt run but I can use the parts off of it to fix the new one when it breaks down

God Love my wife.......... how and why she puts up with me I will never know!!
now where did i put that little piece of string?

I try

I have lived here for 30 years, and a lot of my daughters things are still here!

But I do have a bit of a turf out when I get into the mood

Where are you going BB? Getting a place of your own or what?

i'll let you know what clean feels like tomorrow...i have had so many projects going on at the same time at my wood shop that it is a total disaster area...i haven't swept up shavings from the lathe or surface planer in weeks and there are only trails to walk thrugh..not only is it dangerous but i can't find anything anymore...so in about 30 minutes that's where i'm heading...PIG PARTY....

Freshly washed sheets

Hey BB
Clean feels like freshly washed sheets that have just come off of the clothes line after hours in the sunshine. Top that with a freshly scrubbed bod, shaved legs and scrubbed teeth...
Now get some massage oil...a partner ...and dirty all over again!! lol
