But one things for sure, you dont get to sit on your ceramic throne and annoint heroes. Heroes are heroes apart from whatever you think of them. They were heroes when you were protesting and spitting on them, and theyre heroes inspite of your backslapping and shoplifting reflected glory from them.

You haven't been clear on this thread at all, JBJ, about what your problem is--so so much for your "mastery" of writing (which has always been just something you've asserted and not shown).

What exactly is your beef with people showing appreciation for military service and sacrifice--and personal service, as applicable--on a day dedicated to recognizing this?

You don't want your service recognized and appreciated, fine. Then just butt out of a thread where others do so rather than pissing on the expression of their sentiments.
