I received an e-mail a few minutes ago wondering how many results of the experiments on the shuttle had been reported back and how many have been lost forever.

I know of at least one experiment that survived.

The experiment of democracy in the Middle East.

Mission Specialist Colonel Ilan Ramon voted in the Israeli elections.

He participated in a free, unfettered choice in his country's leadership.

No other country in that region can claim such a thing.

The experiment will continue. And flourish.

What a beautiful sentiment, in the midst of tragedy.

Thank you for this, George.

Lest we forget, the democracy we have in America was an experiment.

An experiment that has worked.

How wonderful it is. How much we take it for granted. How we must protect it.

How horrible it would be if infringed upon!

It is an ongoing experiment that proves itself successful every day, a new, in our country and so many others throughout the world.

IIRC, the general results are communicated back, the details however are probably lost.
