So I got a letter yesterday telling me that I "might' have been caught up in the EquiFax hack. It referred me to a website (theirs) where I might find out if my information may have been compromised.
So I went there and sure enough it had been. (And if you have any credit at all it would have been.
)
Along with this 'check' came an offer for 'free' credit reporting and credit tracking.............for the first year anyway.
They're playing the long game here. taking it in the shorts in the short term while looking for the long term revenue. Quite clever on their part. I wonder what the "re-up" rate is going to be when the free ride is over.
Oh, and Yes, I did sign up. I've already got a really good service but I'll let the inept show me what they got now. Kinda a comparison shopping experiment.
