Most people accept that there are four elements; Air, Fire, Water and Earth. However, most people forget that there is a fifth element - Life.
In this world of swords, monsters and heroes there are certain humans called Elementals, people with special talents linked to an affinity with the elements. This is the story of a group of junior elementals searching for a legindary fossil, whic rumour suggests contains the pure esscence of the fith element and can grant incredible powers to any elemental who possesses it.
Junior elementals have one element and one skill (speed, attacking, defending or wisdom). The combination of the two creates the elementals first special talent. Check out my character as an example.

no, not really. It's more like pokemon (Shudder... perish the thought!) in that each elemental can learn to use more elements and more skills (thus developing more powers, or "talents") as the story unfolds. And no, there is no magical being that is summoned when five teenagers yell out their personal element... unless you really want it!

Jonah Sunchild

Element: Fire
Skill: Wisdom
Talet: Meditation - when meditating in the centre of a ring of fire Jonah can enter a state of trance, allowing him a very limited foresight into the consequences of the actions he may take in the immediate future.

Background: Jonah is a 17 year old boy from a town known as Eldia. His Element trainer is dying, and Jonah wishes to recover the Life Fossil so that he can save the old tutor. To do this, he must travel to the nearby town of Lorendon to seek further training from the renowned Element Master, Sensei Fu.

Jonah sighed and handed over some more coins to the barmaid.
"Room for the night, please."
He had intended to leave that afternoon, but his friends had insisted that he stay for one last drink, and then one more last drink... he was now up to his 9th last ale in Eldin. He looked around at the crowd. Strange, how many elementals Eldin housed, when towns four times the size usually held only a handful. It seemed that half of the town had elemental capabilities!
Just past dusk, Jonah's companions gradually stumbled homewards.
"One last drink," Jonah slurred to himself, as he settled into his stool once more. "At least adventures can be left until tomorrow."

OOC: Hmm... Well, I suppose I'll join.

Name: Jordan
Element: Water
Skill: Defence
Talent: Shield
When activated, a wall of water springs forth from in front of Jordan (or anyone else in his line of sight sight). By focusing pressure against incoming blows, the wall can weaken or even stop the attack altogether. He can only have one wall in exsistance at once, though he can create or dismiss walls in less than a second.

Background: Jordan came from a small fishing village. When he reached puberty, his formerly latent power awakened. Seeking to better understand and control this power, He began travelling, looking for others like himself, so that he might learn from them. He has travelled alone for five years, learing how to live off the land. His wanderings have eventually brought him to a small town named Eldin.

IC: Jordan made his way through the nearly empty streets to the largest one that was still lit up -obviously the village inn. He pushed the door open and stepped through.

The smell of cheap alcohol assaulted his nostrils- a smell he hand never cared for. Ignoring it, he made his way to the bar.

"Excuse me, are there any rooms available?"

The barkeep glanced at him. "Eight coppers for the night."

Jordan dug into his pocket and paid the man. "Before I go, would you happen to know the way to, uh..." he dug into his pocket again and pulled out a piece of paper this time. "Lorendon?"

"Yeah, it's about a day's walk to the east." The barkeep said.

"Ah, thank you." Jordan said, starting toward his room.

Jonah stood and clapped a hand on the stranger's retreating shoulder. "Feel like some company, friend? I'm Jonah, and I'm heading to Lorendon tomorrow."

Well you cought my intrest.

Name: Dio
age: 17
hair: blond
eyes: brown
Element: Life
skill: Offense
talent: drain
Not completely efect yet. It only restores about 10% of the dage done. However with training and time it can become 100% efective.
Bio: Dio comes from aa upper class family. The fammilys prestige come from there powerful earth based gifts which they use for crops and mineing. How ever Dio has been given the element of life, a compltely unique gift in his line, and now finds himself with out an adiquit teacher. With fuport only afar from his parents and only in the form of cash he finds himself in Eldin.

IC: Walking into the inn. "Three days, and I still haven't found a teacher." He walked by the counter reached into his poket and threw one gold pice over to the innkeeper. "Keep the change. It apears I'll be here for a while." He then heads for the stairs.

Jonah talked loudly as he steered the traveller, rather erratically, toward the rooms.
"...because, from elemental to elemental, there isn't a teacher around thats anything like Sensei Fu. That's why I'm going to Lorendon. He's gotta train me up a bit for my journ- " He stopped, and hurriedly added: "For my holiday. Jonah bumped into a man as he past the bar, spilling the remnants of his drink down the back of the man's neck.
"Oh damn, sorry mister, lemme buy you a drink or something." Looking again at the man, he continued. "Another elemental! Damn there's a lot of us in here tonight! What are you in Eldin for tonight?"

"I'm... just passing through." Jordan responded, somewhat put off by the familiarity the stranger showed. Obviously he had been drinking for a while.

"Say, what's your name, anyway?" Jonah asked.

"Jordan."

"Good name!" Jonah replied, slapping him on the back. "I'm Jonah."

"Yes, you mentioned that."

"I did?" He paused for a moment, furrowing his brow in concentration. "Oh yeah, I did! Well, anyway, the rooms are up there. I'll see you in the morning, and we'll head to Lorendon together, alright?" He slapped Jordan on the back again.

"Sure thing."

Jordan started up the stairs, while Jonah turned and weaved back towards the bar. The elemental seemed friendly enough, but Jordan couldn't help but wonder what he was like sober.

Dio

IC: One of the men at the bar bumps into me. A cold drink poors down my back. Being frustrated from my day loong search I was about ready to beat this guy senseless. I turned around and saw that he was already drunk beyond beleif. I can't really beat him senseless if he dosen't have any sense. The man even apalagised and offered to buy me a drink.

This wasn't where my attention was though. He had mentioned a trainer the best elemental trainer. The best must be able to help me. Prehaps I should fallow them tomorow, after all this town reputation seeems rather exagerated. A city of elementals only a few have any more power then me. Maybe I should of stayed behind with my parents. No, that will never help me become usefull. I only have a year to prove my skill to my fammily before they cut me off.

I fallowed the pair upstairs. One went into a room and I stayed outside and waited for the sober one to turn around. As soon as he turned around he jumped a bit this one definetly isn't a psycic. "Tell me dose this drunk know what he's talking about?"

A conversation fallowed that left me with these points. He never met the drunk before and has no clue as to weather or not he knows where he is let alone where a teacher of this calibur is. After the conversation I added "I'll go with you tomorow." I then walked into my room.

As Jonah awoke, he instantly wished he hadn't. It wasn't so much the dry mouth and hangover he minded, or the fact that he could only remember feeble fragments of the night before, but the knowledge that he was about to walk to Lorendon, on a path that had never been 100 per cent safe, with nothing but a small pack of gear and two men he didn't know.
He checked his gear and money, then wandered slowly downstairs to the bar, where he was greeted with a chuckle by the same barmaid he had seen the night before.
"Youre looking almost as good as you did last night, Jonah" she said, looking a liitle smug. "By the way, here's your change. You gave me enough yesterday to buy about 20, and only got through nine."
"Only nine drinks? Dammit, Rosalyne, what you put in that stuff?"
Rosalynes eyes narrowed slightly, but she couldn't help the friendly smile twitching on the corners of her full lips. "You know, we don't usually even let 17 year olds drink in here, the least you could do is handle the brew like a man!" Jonah's shoulder's sagged visibly.
"About three pints of water please, Ros. And something salty to eat. Tell me," he added as she tuned to stoke the ashes in last night's stove. "I didn't try to marry you again, did I?"
"Not this time Jonah, not this time" she answered, laughing. Jonah smiled despite the headache.
"Well now I am ashamed. By the way, are those two foreigners still here? Only I think I made arrangements to travel with 'em today."
"Yeah, and you're just lucky your ol' dad taught you some manners. One of 'em was about to slap you insensible after you tried to feed his jacket with beer! But don't worry, they looked like early risers, thy should be here soon." As she busied herself with breakfast, Jonah waited, slowly drinking his way through the first giant glass of water.

Jordan awoke as sunlight streamed in his window. He sat up and stretched. It looked like it would quite nice today.

He dressed and strapped on his weapons -two daggers, one in his boot and one on his left forearm, and a shortsword at his belt- and headed downstairs.

The room was largely empty, except for Jonah, who was sitting at a table near the bar.

"Morning." Jordan said, sliding into a chair at the same table. Jonah just motioned for him to keep his voice down.

"What can I get ya, stranger?" The waitress said, coming over to the table.

"Potato soup and a slice of bread."

"That'll be fine, thank you. How much?"

She shook her head. "You stayed here last night, breakfast isn't any extra." She turned and disappeared into another room, then came back amoment later.

"Thank you agian." Jordan said, dropping a few coins in her hand.

"You come back, you hear?" The waitress said, quickly making a moue.

"I promise I'll stay here next I'm in town."

"Good." She smirked and disappeared into the next room again.

"You ready to leave?" Jordan asked as he ate.

"There's somebody else that's supposed to be going with us." Jonah replied. "I think. The guy I spilled my drink on last night. You know, the blonde guy."

"Okay. Has he been down yet?"

"I don't think so."

Dio

OOC: I'm a little tired right now so this won't be my best post. By the way, is it tacky if I had the waitress marry Dio last night.

IC: I got out of my bed. I mved over to my pack. I had thrown my travel gear into it last night. I put on my normal cloack for travel. I place my quiver at my side. So far my powerr is useless when I use a bow but the fact of the matter is the bow is my best weapon. I then mounted my bow behind me and picked up my back pack straping it on. Then I grabed my hikeing staff. If I had to fight at close range this blunt objest would be my weapon of choice, and I can use my powers to maintain my health when I hit some one with this staff.

I head won stairs. "Thank you for the room madam. I don't think I'll be staying another night." I moved over to where the others where, or atleast I hoped these where the two from last night. I couldn't really tell the lighting is difrent in here and I wasn't completely awake last night.

OOC: I wouldn't say so much tacky as it is kinda stupid. Just my opinion though.

OOC: Woah... cut. I wouldn't say either stupid or tacky, but I just wanna get outta the bar quickly and get on with the action if no one else is gonna join the thread.

Jordan glanced over his shoulder as he heard somebody coming down the steps. The stranger Jonah had spilled his drink on the night before appeared and headed over to the table.

"Gentlemen."

"Morning." Jordan replied.

"Yeah. Hi." Jonah said.

"I'm Jordan." He held out his hand.

"Dio." The stranger shook hands briefly.

"By the way," Jordan said, addressing Jonah again. "Is there a weaponsmith in town?"

"Yeah, he's got a shop about a block to the north." Jonah said, topping off his glass.

"Would he be open yet?"

"Probably. He's usually up pretty early."

Jordan wiped his mouth and stood up. "Okay. I'll be back in a few minutes, then I'll be ready to leave."

Jordan disappeared out the front door and showed up a bit later carrying a spear as long as he was tall. "Ready?"

OOC:

I think the marriage idea was what came up because I was tired. Oh well if I had been completely awake the joke I would of made still wouldn't of been funny.
