Harold Lieter sat staring at his computer monitor. He had been sitting staring at it for nearly five minutes now as it flashed its message to him. The reason he was still there was that he couldn't believe it. They had done it! Harold and his small research team had been funded by the Government ... well, the military as well if he were honest with himself, after Lieter had brought his plans for the device to the Government nearly three years ago. At the time he had been sure his tech would work, and had convinced the doubters in the meeting that it could be made. However over the years his own doubt had started to eat into his self confidence, but now, with the help of his team, the final theory test had been completed with 100% confirmation that the device would indeed do as he had originally planned it to do.
He stood and walked over to the small testing station in the lab. No one else was in yet, he had been working all night to finish the final test before they could risk trying it out on a human subject. With hands sunk into his lab coat pockets the 47 year old scientist allowed himself to relax, and smile as he looked down on what was his lifetimes work. Its uses were many, but he doubted it would be used for more than a few of them. Invisibility. To make a man totally invisible to the naked eye, to electronic surveillance, to scanners and sensors had been at the top of the worlds intelligence agencies to do list for decades. Now he had a working device which when placed in contact with a living being could, at the press of a button, literally do all those things. The power it finally struck home, what someone, some organisation would do for this .... well, murder would the least of it. Fear reared its head. That he had created a monster here, but no, he wasn't responsible for how the device was used was he? Of course not.
All that needed to be done now was for the device to be placed in its operation unit, a modified wrist watch, which would held disguise it and keep it handy for use. Harold could hardly wait for his partner in the project, a woman he admire greatly, to arrive for her days work so he could show her the final working device which had taken years of their lives.
