The Defenders Renewed (Group Thread Open To All)

POV Zuya Wagner

(Approximately two years ago)

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--5si_t6p9h8/TnF1Gxh3v0I/AAAAAAAADws/73Y4pClVKWM/s640/Native+American+woman++Regina+Lakota+Sioux+-+fb.jpg

Zuya felt like an idiot, crouching in an outfit that looked like a mesh of Mad Max meets Custer's Last Stand meets Playboy Bunnies go Native.

Actually, she liked the war paint. But everything else...idiot.

"And then she said she wouldn't go out with me until I grew my hair back. What's up with that?"

Zuya bit back a dramatic sigh as she amended her earlier assessment. She was dressed like an idiot, standing next to an idiot.

Jimmy Powell wasn't a bad guy. He had grown up on the Big Cypress Reservation in Florida, played free safety for Florida State, then got a commission in the United States Marine Corp after graduation.

But even though he was Seminole, Jimmy suffered the same defect so many white people did. They looked at any Native American as part of a monolithic entity, having the same opinion and belief about everything.

Actually, Jimmy understood that Natives had wide ranging opinions and beliefs on any number of subjects. He just thought that every Native woman would perfectly understand every other Native woman, and particularly any Native woman he was trying to get into bed.

"So, I mean, doesn't she understand that I'm a US Marine? And how come you got to keep your hair that long?" Jimmy asked.

"Because I'm Canadian. And I'm not military, I'm a Mountie. Part of the Force," Zuya answered.

Jimmy just shrugged before continuing, "So why is she insisting that I grow my hair back?"

Zuya's first instinct was to ask Jimmy how the fuck should she know? The girl he was talking about wasn't Lakȟóta like Zuya was. Her second instinct was to tell Jimmy the girl sounded too rez for him anyway.

Instead Zuya just grunted noncommittally. She had learned long ago that when a man tells you his romantic problems, he's not looking for solutions, he's just looking for a sympathetic ear.

There was a buzz in her ear and a command to move in. Zuya was thankful for Jimmy's sudden silence as the pair moved forward.

Jimmy was bare chested, wearing only moccasins and those leather pants with fringes she always saw French trappers wearing in period dramas. Zuya didn't even know if the Seminole wore moccasins. But then, her discussions with Jimmy never covered the traditional clothing of his people; just why he was having trouble getting this Native woman or that into bed.

Zuya's outfit was even worse. She felt every errant breeze on her almost bare ass, and it seemed as if her tits were going to pop out at any minute. The eggheads who were running the show, however, swore up and down that the warp that had popped up in the middle of nowhere could only be entered by members of the First Nations, and the mystic pseudo-technological something or other properties of the warp required that Jimmy and Zuya had to wear their present attire. Zuya was just thankful that Jimmy felt she was off limits, since they had met on a mission. She still felt his eyes checking out her ass as the two carried knapsacks of modern explosives and archaic weapons into the middle of the warp.

-----

(Now)

Zuya stepped off the transporter platform of the Defenders' Lunar Base, giving a nod to the operator and getting directions to the mess hall. With a polite thank you, Zuya made her way down the corridor to her destination. A reflective surface Zuya passed showed a woman of medium height, either in her late twenties or early thirties, clean scrubbed face with barely a hint of makeup, and hair neatly braided into a single strand down the back of a dark greenish-gray flight suit that had the name patch "Z Wagner" over a breast pocket, as well as other patches showing Zuya was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police temporarily detached to the United Nations.

Of course, there was more to the story than that. While with the Mounties, Zuya had been an active member of their counterintelligence division, as well as being part of the force that dealt with (in Zuya's words) "weird shit." Which meant Zuya had worked with members of security forces from other countries. At present, she was one of the many liaisons between the United Nations and the Newly reconstituted Defenders. Actually, Zuya remembered her complete and official title contained words like Active and Resource and Facilitate. Which meant she was here on the base to keep her ears open, actively help out the Commander on a mission if she could and, when official channels wouldn't do, serve as an unofficial conduit for the Commander between him and whatever governmental entities he needed to talk to. She was also to provide the Commander with intelligence and resources that he wasn't officially entitled to from those same aforementioned governmental entities.

And if I screw up my interpretations of my orders, everything comes crashing down on me, Zuya reflected wryly. Fun fun joy you.

With that optimistic thought in her head, Zuya entered the mess hall.

POV Lynx

"Not to worry, Avery. It needs to be accomplished, and it will be accomplished." Lynx paused, with a mischievous smile appearing on her face. "You know, it wouldn't hurt for you to eat a little more breakfast. I don't mean to be catty, but you eat like a bird." Lynx began chuckling, before she added, "I'm sorry, Avery, but I've been waiting to spring that bad pun on you since I decided to come here."

Just then a young woman entered the far door of the mess hall, heading for the steam line. She was an attractive young woman, in a dark colored flight suit, with hair, features and skin coloring that Lynx recognized as being Native American.

"There certainly are a lot of new faces here," Lynx remarked to Avery. "Which I think is entirely a good thing."

COMMANDER POV

Before the new man could say any thing and or identify himself another teleporter burst into life. John turned keeping one eye on the new guy as he kept the other on the new new arrival.

"I guess better late than ever" John remarked as he waited. To think he had once been worried about no one answering his call! Yet his ranks were becoming more and more full as the day progressed.

And he couldnt be happier

A woman stepped out this time, dressed in a colorful costume and shouting out a quip about earth. Johnathan didnt think she seemed like a threat but once again he did not recognize the person appearing before him.

"Welcome to the moon" Johnathan said deciding to dead pan a quip back to her "How if I may ask did you get in? I am afraid I dont recognize you?"

.............................................

SPIDER POV

Gregory stiffened nervously gulping at Averys words about a talk before the meeting. He had expected John to want to talk and more or less berate him for what he had done.

But Avery was much more scary

Before Gregory could obsess about it Romeo came in trailing behind every one. He rose waiting for him to gather his own plate of food before he came over and sat next to him.

"Hey" Gregory said beginning to eat "Looks like your about to see the defenders in semi full force"

.......................................

SPECTRE POV

David was rising to go see what was taking the commander so long when he noticed the new comer coming in. She was pretty so much so it made him do a double take and gulp. He heard Darius snigger from his position and smacked him on the head before he decided to go over.

"Uh welcome" David said walking over and stopping in front of her "I dont think we have seen you here before.... I am not sure where the commander is but my name is David"

Zuya Wagner POV

"Sergeant Zuya Wagner," Zuya replied to David with a smile. "Royal Canadian Mounted Police, detached service to the United Nations and, if you don't mind reading through ten pages of bureaucratese, official liaison of some type or another from the United Nations to the Defenders. Which my rumbling stomach hopes might entitle me to some pancakes, sausage and coffee from your breakfast line."

Enter The Simbayla Sisters

DEEP IN THE MOUNTAINS OF AFRICA

Thundress POV

She focused her powers drawing in the surrounding areas electricity. It began to spark along her body running up toned arms and legs and nourishing them. Orror felt the strength of the electricity coursing through her and her eyes began to turn pure white as she kept drawing it in.

She shot her hand out pushing the electricity out of her body as she did. White hot tendrils shot out cracking with their power as they slammed into the rocky surface.

The result was instant

The rocky wall cracked bits and pieces flying every which way. Orrors shields flew up scattering the rocky blast and directing it back down at the dusty ground around her.

"Excellent work my Queen"

Her attendant spoke up her eyes wide and her Arabic coming out slightly rushed. Orror couldnt help but smile at her praise even if she did so every time she demonstrated her power.

"It is nothing" Orror replied using the womans native Arabic language "You make to much of it every time"

Orror grabbed her vest pulling it back on as they left the balcony she was practicing on and went back into her "palace". When she had risen up she had told them all multiple times she did not need to live in any sort of granduer. However her people insisted she take her place and so this was the compromise.

"Is my sister almost ready?" Orror asked turning to her attendant and raising an eyebrow "I told her I did not wish to be to late"

She rushed off to check leaving Orror alone to finish packing. Until she spoke with this.... John about establishing a way for her to come back and forth to her people she would be away from their village. For not the first time since she decided on her present course of action she felt a mix of both nervousness and dread. The last time she had been away from her people they were captured executed and scattered in the wind.

"I know this is the right thing mother" Orror said touching her ceremonial knives and sighing "I can not stay here forever not when the chance to rid the world of the injustice that is the syndicate has made it self known to me but please.... watch over our people"

Once the prayer was finished she turned pulling her duffel bag over her shoulder. She stepped out and nodded at the passing attendants who bowed to her. She walked over to her sisters room one hall over and knocked trying to draw on her patience as she prepared her self for the other girls shenanigans.

"I hope you are ready" Orror said pushing the door open "I told you I did not wish to run late"

"The united nations?" David said his eyes widening in surprise as he looked at the woman with renewed interest "I didnt think they wanted to talk to us since they shamed us on national television"

He pointed at the buffet table which is where every one was helping themselves "How about we go sit and talk while we eat" David offered waving his hand at a private table "Im curious to hear how the united nations managed to send some one to us and shame us in forty eight hours"

POV Zuya Wagner

"It's because the UN Charter was originally written by Carroll Lewis," Zuya explained, happily following David to the buffet. "So it allows them to pursue six contradictory positions all before breakfast." Zuya loaded up her plate with considerably more than just a few pancakes and sausage. She also grabbed a cup of coffee, two glasses of orange juice and a bottle of maple syrup for her exclusive use.

"If it'll make you feel better," Zuya said between bites, "I can do my Ten Bears speech about words of iron and blue coats and double speak and stuff. But I really don't channel my stoic ancestors that well until my stomach's full."

SPECTRE POV

"Well I cant imagine the syndicate or Jane is to happy about it" David said sliding in across from her and chuckling at her words "But hey im glad some one at the U.N has our backs"

David rose an eyebrow at her mention of ancestors. His eyes flashed green and he took in the family legacy that followed her before laughing.

"Your ancestors are a proud people" He said beginning to eat "your pretty damn impressive did any one tell you that?"

POV Wind Hunter

Alya was tempted to answer Orror that they would be neither early nor late, but would arrive at the time they were destined to arrive.

Instead Alya decided to bide by the wisdom oft-stated by her adoptive father: Nobody likes a smart-ass Buddhist.

Orror had found Alya in her room, sitting cross-legged, floating about three feet above the floor. Since Alya had developed her powers of flight and levitation, she used the latter when meditating.

When Orror entered the room, Alya simply unfolded her legs, planting her feet on the ground. Unlike Orror, Alya was dressed like a European woman, if said European woman was planning to ascend Kilimanjaro. Which Alya had been, until her sister told her that the two of them would be joining the Defenders. Alya considered the idea, and decided to acquiesce to her sister's decision.

"I'm ready," Alya said simply.

A large Bengal tiger entered the room at that moment. It shared a silent communication with Alya, turned to Orror, tilting its head to one side as it looked at her, then walked into the wall, disappearing as it did so.

"Parkhala will join us at the base later," Alya advised her sister. "Shall we go?"

POV Zuya Wagner

"If you start singing a chorus of Cherokee people, I get to kick your ass," Zuya said around a bite of ham.

Zuya took a big gulp of coffee before adding, "Seriously, I really don't buy into this noble savage crap that non-Natives try to lay on me. Yeah, those who came before me did a pretty good job, but I look at it like this. In the end, it's what you do yourself that makes a difference. You can't ride on anyone else's good deeds, or try to take cover with other people's failings."

"And one other thing," Zuya said. "This French toast is fantastic. Please tell me that this isn't something that came frozen in a box." Zuya dabbed a slide of French toast in a pool of syrup before consuming it, a blissful look on her face.

THUNDRESS POV

"I swear that tiger" Orror said shaking her head as it disappeared through the wall. She didnt both to go after it or even allow her self to be shocked any more. Ever since she had found out about her sister and arranged for her to come to the palace she had learned to accept their shared powers.

Even if it meant a spectral tiger

"Good let us leave then" Orror said grabbing her sisters bag and shaking off the offer to take it she hoisted them both easily moving towards the balcony. She kicked open the door stepping and gathering the electricity in the surrounding air.

"If the information I received was correct" Orror said to her sister floating into the air and turning to her "we have a bit of a trek the teleporter is a few miles away are you ready to ride the winds sister?"

SPECTRE POV

"I was not planning on any thing like that" David said shaking his head "but when you can see what I see.... Every ones ancestors you get a good sense of the generations and the history behind ever person every one has their guardians yours just happen to be..... Impressive"

"Though some thing tells me you top them all" He said before he could think about it. David blushed at that and then cleared his throat looking at the french toast "Believe it or not robot spiders made all of our food" David told her jerking his thumb at the kitchen where said spiders were moving around.

POV Wind Hunter

A smile came to Alya's face as the winds began rising around her and Orror. She was glad that she left her hair free as the wind sent it spraying about. The sheer joy of giving herself over to the elements that she and her sister commanded was enough to almost "crack" her usual calm. With a silent nod to her sister, she acknowledged that she was ready to fly.

THUNDERESS POV

And fly they did

Over the mountains and across the land they both were trained and accustomed to flying with the other. It was a game of sorts one that they both enjoyed immensely and strived them to push their powers harder.

It would take them an hour and a half to finally near the teleporter site a forgotten missionary church on the outskirts of a mostly abandoned town. They touched down together with Orror placing one hand warily on her ceremonial knife as she checked to make sure they were in no danger of being attacked.

POV Zuya Wagner

"I'm going to pretend that somewhere there's a human being virtually controlling all those spiders," Zuya said, not slowing down her eating speed a beat. "And if that isn't the case, don't disabuse me of my illusion. Anyway, it wouldn't be the worst cook I've ever seen. I once was stationed at White Horse, where the cook had a trained Capuchin monkey as his sous chef. I kid you not." Zuya looked as if she finally ran out of steam. She pushed herself about two inches from the table, and lazily sipped her coffee. "Speaking of ancestors, I get my metabolism from my grandmother. Seventy-five years old, and the most active, meanest, nicest woman you'll ever meet. So, David, what's this Commander of yours like? I've read his file and read the history, but I'm curious what the people around him think of him."

POV Wind Hunter

Alya used the wind to straighten her hair and help her return to her normal serene appearance. Then she turned her gaze to the sky, saying softly: "Three things cannot long be hidden: The sun, the moon and the truth." Turning to Orror, she added, "I hope we will be able the uncover those truths you wish revealed, sister, by traveling to the moon today."

SPECTRE POV

"There is" David said his infuation with the girl only deepening at her words "I mean hes not controlling them at the moment I would assume but they are his invention and under his control..... at least I hope"

While she sipped her coffee he did the same savoring the taste as he pondered her questions. She was opening the door to a potentially big question and one he wanted to get right.

"I met the Commander a few years after I got my powers" David finally said finishing his coffee and waving for another cup "I joined the defenders kind of late because of my condition and my parents I still remember when he came to tell them I was in safe hands" David said smiling at the memory.

"He isnt the best speaker and he can break all of us with one hand but.... There isnt a more loyal friend or some one with a greater moral compass then him hes the only one I would pick to follow orders from and I have never regretted that choice"

................

THUNDERESS

"This is for both of us sister" Orror said glancing over at her and smiling "I know it may not seem like it for you because it is not your tribe but our family was taken ruined by the syndicate and their Queen today may not be the first step for secrets but it will be the first step for our revenge"

Orror opened the door signifying the end of the conversation. She came in letting her naturally electric glow illuminate the dark church as she went towards the basement.

"Stay by me sister" Orror said narrowing her eyes "I trust the information and the source but who knows who could be hiding in here"

POV Wind Hunter

Alya merely nodded, closing her eyes and letting her awareness seep out around her. Alya found her balance and expanded it, her mind reaching out and ready to move the invisible around her at a moment's notice.

POV Zuya Wagner

"Anyone else that a plain ol' rez girl should take note of, especially on her first trip to the moon?" Zuya asked with a lopsided smile.

SPECTRE POV

David laughed shaking his head at her words.

"Just that were a wiley lot!" David remarked waving his hand at every one gathered around them "folks and freaks of all taste and colors here but were a family and you will never find a closer group of people to watch your back"

Romeo/Kid Crux POV

He was glad to see Gregory. The crowd in the mess hall was lively and seemed to be getting bigger by the minute. "I guess so," Romeo responded. His eyes were wide as he looked around. "Did I get you into real trouble over what happened yesterday?"

Imogen/Improv POV

"Welcome to the moon" Johnathan said deciding to dead pan a quip back to her "How if I may ask did you get in? I am afraid I dont recognize you?"

"Don't suppose the mask helps much!" Imogen smiled and removed her hat and golden mask. She wasn't so famous that she was guaranteed to be recognized, most of her performances were on stage, but she had done a couple of small film roles, and released an album that went almost entirely unnoticed except by a small loyal group of followers. "My name is Imogen Gambol. I was in contact with a Mr. Faraday, who instructed me on the location and use of your teleporter in San Francisco... he was supposed to send my dossier."

((This post is a copy of some RPing between myself and silvertongue217. Avery’s replies are in the standard font, and Gregory’s are in italics. We thought we would try this as a different approach to multiple postings for one conversation/scene. Please feel free to let us know if you have any feedback on it))

Avery laughed at Lynx’s pun, the smile on her face bright with amusement. However, her eyes were drawn to where Gregory and Romeo were and she sensed in the young men. With a heavy sigh she excused herself from her conversation with Lita and walked over to the two. She had never really had to reprimand someone before, but she knew that this would probably be the first of many times. She wanted to get it over with before the meeting.

"Did I get you into real trouble over what happened yesterday?"
“What's done is done Romeo,” Avery cut in before Gregory could reply. She gave the new recruit a gentle smile. “Regardless of how you came, we are happy to have you here. I look forward to getting to know you better. But, I hope you don’t mind if I borrow Gregory for a moment?” Avery gave Romeo an apologetic look before she turned to Gregory; "Gregory... Ready for our chat?" She asked.
_
Gregory glanced over at Romeo trying to resist the urge to give him a panicked save me type look. He had a good idea why she wanted to talk to him and what specifically it was about. His actions in the field whether or not his intention had been good were against her orders.
And now he had to pay for that
"More or less" Gregory said excusing himself and rising. He followed her thankful for the fact they were doing it outside of the mess hall and every one else.
"go ahead" Gregory said the minute they were alone "I deserve it im ready"

_
Avery wasn't normally the type to pull people up on anything. She would stand up to evil and bullies with no hesitation, but she had a natural sense of empathy that usually stopped her from commenting on people's behaviour. This was different though, she had to pull on a hard armour of professionalism when she saw the look on Gregory's face, heard the resignation in his voice.
"What do you deserve Gregory?" She asked.
_

"I disobeyed your orders" Gregory said stiffening at the remembrance "I went off mission and disregarded what you said I know it was wrong but I wanted to speak to my father so much I didnt let my self be reasoned with"
He shuffled his feet and sighed looking at her "It wouldn't have done either one of them good nor would they be proud of me for doing it so I accept whatever punishment you and John have for me"

_

"Well," Avery said with a brisk nod and a wry smile, "It seems you have taken the words right out of my mouth. You're right. You went against my orders, into a situation that was potentially extremely dangerous. Thankfully, and with sheer luck, it wasn't. However, I need you to trust me. Out there in the field a split second can make all of the difference, and that time we wasted debating it could have cost someone their life," She said.

Avery stood up straighter then, reigning in her anger from the day before and trying to keep herself on task.

"Look, aside from when you went AWOL, you did well. I will commend you for that. You showed that you can think on your feet, and that you are valuable on the field. But I am disappointed. Please don't think that I don't understand. Because I do. I would give almost anything to see or talk to my parents one last time. But what you did?" Avery shook her head. "I think you have potential, Gregory, I truly do, but I think you need more training. More discipline and focus in the field."
_

Gregory took in her words trying not to let his own inability to take criticism effect the lesson she was trying to impart on him. He wanted to tell her it would never happen again or that it was only that one time but he didnt. Before the call he would have told her he would never do some thing like that in the first place. It was disrespectful or at least it felt like it was to try and tell her it would never happen again.

Still it hurt to know he was going back into training. Of course John and him had done some in the year before the call went out but most of his time had spent trying to get his spider bots working and getting the place repaired.

"I" Gregory said sighing "I understand I figured that was going to happen any ways I thank you for being so nice about it..... And some training would probably do me some good" He admitted rubbing the back of his neck.

_

Avery's guilt at the expression on Gregory's face was almost enough to break her. She reached out, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"You're good at what you do, I'm not criticizing that. But being here on the moon base with John is one thing, the Defenders are reforming now and we need to work as a team."
_

"I understand that" Gregory said trying his best to give her a reassuring smile "I am not upset I swear I did do some thing wrong and I am ready to accept that"

He took her hand and kissed it before letting it drop "So I am guessing for now im not on Russia missions?" Gregory asked raising an eyebrow at her.

_

Avery's eyes widened when Gregory kissed her hand. She let it fall to her side and struggled to refocus. She was still sketchy on the plan for Russia, but she knew it would require stealth. Something that other people were better suited for.

"No, I don't imagine so. Mostly because there are other people who have skills that are more suited to the mission. You will probably be assigned to training. Though, with all of the new members, that should prove quite interesting."
_

"I understand" Gregory said sighing and looking down at the mess "Its true there are so many of us raw now" He remarked shaking his head.

"Well then I will follow your lead" Gregory said squaring his shoulders and breathing in "I want to prove to you that I can do this and to make up for last mission if I can train under you I would like that"

_

"Good," Said Avery, smiling at Gregory and nodding in approval. "I have every faith in you. Now, should we get back and enjoy the fun before John gets back and rounds us all up?"

She and Gregory returned to the mess in silence. She watched as he returned to Romeo to pick up the conversation she had interrupted, and she herself made her way back to Lynx.

COMMANDER POV

"Did he" John said relaxing slightly as he took in her words "He might have and I didnt see it yet Mr. Faraday likes to think himself in an old fashion spy novel and do the dead drops and the like"

John turned looking at the new boy and eyeing his pin "I want to get things rolling and go get some food so I am going to go ahead and take you both at face value you can stay and later I will get both of your stories"

John relaxed his guard and gestured for them to follow him. He made his way to the mess following the signs leading from the teleporter room to the large open mess hall.

"Were a little sparse right now" John said turning to the two outside the door "but that just means every one should be grouped together.... more or less"

John pushed open the door stepping in and signifying for the two new comers to follow.

What he saw however stopped him in his tracks

Since he had been dealing with the new comers it would seem others had trickled in. What greeted him was nowhere near the full capacity the team used to boast but it was still a huge group.

And it rocked him to his core

"I" He said shaking his head "I cant believe this" He breathed looking around at every one gathered.

"Well I guess I was mistaken" John told the two turning "The meeting is in an hour please get some food before then" John said spying Avery and moving over to her quickly.

............................

SPECTRE POV

David laughed shaking his head at her words.

"Just that were a wiley lot!" David remarked waving his hand at every one gathered around them "folks and freaks of all taste and colors here but were a family and you will never find a closer group of people to watch your back"

"Looks like you dont have to wait long to meet the commander" David remarked nodding with his chin "there he is"

The commander had just came in two new recruits trailing behind him. David saw the shock on his face at every one assembled and smiled to himself. It was good to see his old friend mentor and boss happy even if he carefully composed his face so as not to give it away.

.........................

HACKER POV

"Man isnt this stuff crazy" Darius remarked sliding into the seat Gregory left and turning to Romeo.

"We got a cat lady now" Darius said shaking his head and nodding at cat lady "on top of a girl who can fly!"

"I dont know about you but I wasnt prepared for all this" Darius said as Maya came over and joined them "what about you?"

"I saw some things in the facility" Maya replied on her second plate of food and showing no signs of stopping "So its not a total shock but still Its a bit disconcerting"

"Thats one way of putting it" Darius said snorting "Whats your name kid? Romeo right? What do you think of all this?"

.............................

THUNDERESS POV

"Well here it is"

Orror walked around the teleporter eyeing it with curiosity. It was an old one put there during a time when the defenders had been many in number and needed. The years while not having been kind to the church seemed to have left the actual system alone.

"It just needs a charge" Orror said raising his hands sparks jumping from them as she approached it "Are you ready sister?" She asked turning to her sister and raising an eyebrow.

............................

DEMON SQAUD POV

"I dont know why we just dont go there"

"She has her reasons" Johnathan grunted moving down the hall towards Jane's throne room.

"For not storming the moon base?" Kelly asked snorting "I dont see how"

"Ours is not to question" Johnathan growled turning to look at them. Even through the mirrored faceplate the squad could feel the glare he was giving them. They wisely choose not to continue instead keeping quite as they reached the doors leading to the throne room.

Mother Russia let them in pushing the door easily with one hand and telling them the Queen would be there shortly. Johnathan thanked her leading his team in and bowing as they waited.

"Oh its you"

Johnathan's body tightened. He knew that voice and it still to this day sent anger through him. He didnt give it away and neither did his squad but they all stiffened as Spectrum leader of the eleventh hour came in.

"I thought I smelled the sulfur" Spectrum remarked waltzing in and swaying her hips "How goes it Johnathan? I trust my teams being called in to clean up YOUR mess"

"There was no mess" Johnathan growled "by the time we got there they were gone my team is on the hunt once they leave their hidey hole on the moon we WILL take them down"

POV Wind Hunter

Alya gave her a sister a somber nod, watching quietly while Orror charged the device.

POV Zuya Wagner

"I suppose I can wait until he finishes the meet and greet with the team members who were already waiting for him here," Zuya told David.

POV Lynx

Lynx had been quietly watching Avery's interchange with Gregory, and its successful conclusion. When Avery came back to join her, Lynx couldn't help but beam at her.

"Please don't take this the wrong way," Lynx began, "But I am so proud of you. You have no idea how much I want to hug you right now, and it's only the decorum of the place that's making me hold that impulse back," Lynx added with a grin.

THUNDERESS POV

"Here goes nothing" Orror said pulling her onto the teleporter and turning to the device. She took a deep breath drawing in her power as her hand rose. She pushed it out this time reaching out to touch the device as she did. The power flowed through her, her natural electricity and the charge she built out dumping into the device. It activated at once blinking and beeping as there was a sudden flash.

They were not in the church any more

"This is it" Orror said stepping off shaking her head and looking around "we are here"

They were on the moon! With the earth tumbling in the window next to them. Orror resisted the urge to race over and look instead reminding her self that she was now a representative of her country and people.

"I am not sure if we should wait" Orror murmured for the first time fretting in front of her sister.

.................

"If you want" David replied shrugging his shoulders "I am sure he wants to meet you however" David told her rising up and holding out his hand.

"How bout we go together?" He asked smiling at her.

Peter looked up as the Commander walked in. As usual, he was instantly busy. He had 2 new people in tow behind him. He didn't reccognize them, but one looked like someone he couldn't forget if he tried. She had on one of the most ridiculous get-ups he'd ever seen, but then again, it was just clothes and compared to some of the people on the Defenders, it wasn't the strangest thing he'd seen this morning, in retrospect.

He looked over at Cloe, leaning in to speak quietly. "Did you already let the boss man know you're here? Cuz I gotta talk with him about what I wanna say during the meeting so since I gotta go over there anyway..." he trailed off, curious if she was content to sit and wait while he stepped away or if she needed to join him.

Either way, it didn't look like he was going to get his chance for a little while yet. So, Peter waited and watched, picking at a plate of fruit as he neared clearing the last of the food arrayed before him. He waited to pick his spot as he watched the Commander talk with the new Defenders as well as some who were already up here.

POV Zuya Wagner

Zuya couldn't help but smile at David's extended hand,

"Now I thought that in space, you were supposed to keep both hands free," she chuckled, standing up to follow her new found friend. "You never know what you might have to fend off.

POV Wind Hunter

Alya was about to calmly reassure her sister when she felt an odd tingling at the base of her spine. The tingling shot up to her skull and she found herself blacking out.

Meanwhile, Alya's still standing body turned to Orror, looking at her sister with eyes glowing a soft yellow. Alya's mouth opened, and though her lips never moved, a voice warned, "Faoi gearradh mo ordog, rud olc a thagann ar an mbealach." Alya's eyes then closed, and the girl collapsed.

It was at that moment that the tiger Parkhala appeared, rushing to his mistress' collapsed form. Alya's eyes flickered opened, as she sat up and looked around, wondering how she had gotten on the floor. She gave her sister a bewildered look and asked simply, "Sister?"

SPECTRE POV

"Thats one way of looking at it" David said shaking his head and laughing at her words "But the only thing you might have to worry about here is an experiment getting lose or the spiders attacking"

He helped the girl up and turning went over to John who was waving off the new followers behind him.

"Commander" David said nodding at him "Seems the UN saw fit to send us an agent..... Or at least some one on the UN did"

THUNDERESS

Orror was turning to talk to her sister when it happened. She spoke to her Irish words that she didnt quite know off the top of her head but filed away for later. Before she could ask the entity that seemed to have taken over her sister it was gone and she was on the floor.

"Sister!" Orror said rushing over and helping her up "I am not sure what happened.... You were possessed spoke Irish then you were on the floor!"

POV Zuya Wagner

"Commander," Zuya said, extending her hand to shake. "Sergeant Zuya Wagner, late of the Mounties. Hopefully someone you can work with, and not a headache the UN has saddled you with."

POV Wind Hunter

"I don't speak Irish," Alya said, still confused, as her sister helped her stand up. "And you picked this time to show up," she told Parkhala as she scratched the tiger between its ears. The normally serene tiger was visibly agitated. "I suppose we should tell---someone?" Alya asked hesitantly. She looked around the corridor, adding, "Surely there are cameras somewhere?"
