The Defenders Renewed (Group Thread Open To All)

SPIDER POV

"I dont want an apology" Gregory said shaking his head moving to intercept him "I want to pick you up and then meet the others whoever you are your the last link to my dad and you seem to have powers and skills which makes you an asset to the defenders as well"

He reached the building and stopped "forget the loading dock just come around to the front so we can get going" Gregory said into the phone before ending the call. He reached up reactivating the COM that connected him to Siren and Spark.

"I am picking up this kid then moving to join you guys" He said "Siren you can kick my ass with the commander later however this kid seems to have powers hes an asset if any thing I will meet you guys by the train"

...........................

Drax POV

Draxs eyes narrowed taking in the demon "You know that we both do not like you using these vines" He growled his eyes narrowing as he tensed himself.

"Release us both you want ot have fun and play then you do NOT take our powers from us" He reminded her as he struggled against the vines. He fumed internally his anger mounting and rising inside of him. They had had this struggle before and every time the demon bitch had thought she could take them however SHE wished. The anarkist..... The one who did not let himself be controlled boiled with anger at her and he struggled still to break free of his bonds.

............................

Spectre POV

Spectre landed them at the bottom of the shaft his hands raised to shoot out any energy blasts. The entire corridor was bathed in red emergency lighting however there was no one around.

"Must be trying to mount a defense above" Spectre said softly "The Commanders distraction upstairs seems to be working"

"Melvin and Snow you guys start going to the cells and opening the doors drop any one who thinks to stop you" Spectre told them nodding "I am going to go see what our friends have found out" He said going invisible as he left them alone in the corridor.

MEANWHILE

"hurry up boss wants the experiments marked HIV loaded now!"

Maya gritted her teeth at the voice of the man she had nicknamed the Warden. Ever since she had been kidnapped and brought here he had taken a particular shine to the young latino girl. He had made his thoughts on her clear and let her know exactly what he would do to her if he was allowed to. There had been many nights when she woke up to him staring at her running his baton over the bars again and again as he sang to her.

"Oh baby girl" He sing songed coming over to her that wolf like smirk on his face "Guess what your on the VIP list now be a good girl for daddy and put your hands behind your head so I can take you out"

Maya got up her body slugish due to having been still for so long. She was only allowed adrenaline when they were performing test on her. When they weren't she was kept in a constant state of rest so as to make sure her powers didnt manifest. It was a version of hell for the young girl and the fight had all but extinguished in her.

But maybe......

The guards were talking about some thing attacking the facility.... If she could get some momentum or tap into her fear of the Warden she might be able to get enough of a burst to make her escape or hook up with whoever was attacking the facility. The woman tensed watching as the Warden came in one hand on his gun and the other on his handcuffs as he approached her.

Peter turned to the door again. This time he heard a voice, not a radio. The guards were down here and being given orders. What orders? Peter tried to put it all together. If the base were under attack, they would try to mount a defense. From what he had seen on his test days, there weren't any super-powered guards. They would just wait until he burned off what energy he was able to harvest and then normal guards would take him back to his cell. Judging by the shaking, there was a real possibility that supers were here and there was no way the security here would be able to repulse them.

"They need to move us... they can't let us escape until they are done with their research..." the conclusion his him like a tone of bricks. He frowned slightly as he thought about that guard coming in to get him. If only he could get to the sunlight, he'd be able to help. Still, he kept his post behind his table, ready to spring on anyone dumb enough to come in here by themselves. Then again, with all the cells on this floor at least they could turn the tables if someone could just get the doors open. Peter hadn't seen another soul beyond the guards that moved him. Whoever ran this place kept a very tight control over who could meet with who. His floor was all pressurized magnetically sealed doors. He reasoned he was on the floor with the more dangerous test subjects. Peter had counted the cells, but had no idea if they were all occupied or if they were just for show to give him hop that he wasn't alone down here.

Either way, he couldn't do much more than hope that things were going well up top and that someone would find him down here.

"Alright, Out front then." Romeo didn't argue. This was his chance to become a hero and he didn't want to blow it by trying to be more clever than he really was. It was enough trying to manage all of the cleverness of the lwa. He headed straight toward the building.

He was slightly out of breath when he reached his destination and looked around for the man, Gregory. There weren't many people out front, but he felt very unsure of himself. Then he spotted the man that must be his contact from his serious expression and the alert way he scanned the crowd. Romeo gave a slight wave and hurried forward. He didn't know what to expect next, but he was ready to do whatever he was told... so long as the lwa didn't interfere.

Gregory's voice came through the comms as Siren, Spark, Darius and his team made their way to the train line. Siren was on high alert, trying to keep an eye out for possible threats all the while making a concerted attempt to appear normal.

"Message received," Siren replied, voice stiff, "We are only ten minutes out from the train. I am getting these kids on it and out of here before we get caught. Darius said there is another one in forty minutes. You'll have to wait for that. Catch that and track us to where we're going."

Ten minutes later the sound of the railroad was clear and Siren, Spark, Darius and crew were all crouched by the railroad track, right after the public stop. The plan was that Spark would teleport them on while it was still slowing down to pass the station at a safe speed. It was a long-distance train, not one that would normally stop at this station. Jill had volunteered to keep an eye on things to make sure that it didn't get to fast too early. The sound of an approaching train rattled through them and she turned to Spark.

"You're up Spark, do me proud!"

"Alright, let's do this! Everyone grab onto me," Spark said, rather loudly. It didn't matter if people looked at this point, they would be gone in a second anyways. Feeling several hands reach out tentatively to grab him, he focused on the space ahead of himself and prepared to snap the moment he felt the rush of wind from an oncoming train.

He heard it growing closer to his position, but he kept his eyes forward, prepping for his jump. He had done through windows before, but he needed to focus. If his gaze was locked on the window itself, they would all wind up teleporting to the glass pane; They wouldn't necesarily all be inside. So he'd have to aim for the space inside the train. Suddenly, it rushed in front of him, cars barrelling past. Looking up, he saw windows streaming by. He picked the first one he felt he had a good view on and...

*Snap*

They were in the car. He couldn't see much else. The car was smaller than the outside, so the people he had telelported were now surrounding him, blocking his line of sight. But they were in. He had done his job.

Gregory POV

"Understood Siren" Gregory said wincing at her clipped voice. He opened his mouth as if to say sorry again before deciding against it. Instead he scanned the grounds and moments later his eyes watched as a young man huried forward to greet him.

"No time to talk" Gregory said waving him off before he could say any thing else "we have a train to catch in forty minutes we got a lot of ground to cover"

Gregory turned nodding at him to follow him as they began making their way across the college grounds. By now the police had begun to trickle in however none of them paid any attention to the dou as they made there way towards the trains.

"Only code names from here on out" Gregory told him as they left the college area "Im spiders and the girl your about to meet is Siren the rest are part of the hacker group that pulled the stunt during the UN broadcast.

.................................

Darius POV

"Shit!" Darius said pushing away and shaking his body "That was unreal!"

"You okay little ones?" Jill was asking to the younger kids. Tim on the other hand looked sick and groaned going over and opening a window before sticking his head out.

"You guys sure do have the moves" Darius said shaking his head "How long are we going to be on the train for?" Darius asked turning to Siren.

Romeo hefted the bag and fell in pace a little behind Gregory. He was struggling to keep up with the tall man, the heavy bag proving to be more and more of an encumbrance by the moment. He knew that the lwa could help him move faster, but that could bring other consequences. None of the spirits were very inclined to follow directions given by "stupid fucks" and as far as the lwa were concerned, all living people, himself included, were "stupid fucks" a vast majority of the time.

*Baron. Could you help me carry this without taking over?*

*Ha! I am Baron Samedi! I am not your muther fuck luggage boy!* Baron was clearly annoyed by the request. The lwa enjoy having the freedom to move about as they choose in a mortal body, and they are not unwilling to help in other ways, but an offering would be necessary to appease the Baron's pride. There was no time for that. He could ask Nibo instead, but Nibo was even less predictable than Baron, and having already asked Baron he couldn't then ask Nibo without running the risk of offending Baron even further.

*Well, could you at least promise to stay with this guy? I'm not going to be able to keep up with him on my own.*

*You want me to follow your new Masisi boyfriend? I do not like your Masisi. I only like to fuck the beautiful women!*

*Didn't you hear Baron? He is taking us to meet Siren. She is a very beautiful woman. Maybe SHE will want to have sex with you.*

*All of the beautiful women want to fuck Baron Samedi! I will do it. Give me my cane.*

"Greg... I mean, Spiders! I have to stop a minute." He set down the suitcase on the sidewalk and laid it down flat, so that he could get to Baron's cane... not the valuable one that had been in his family for generations, and would go back onto the altar as soon as he had a place for one, but the cheap substitute that Romeo had purchased at a flea market.

Avery felt the familiar tug and twirl of Spark's teleportation, and when she opened her eyes she let out a loud breath of relief. She watched as Jill looked around, counting the kids and as Tim stuck his head out the window and hurled. Luckily, her stomach help together. She turned to Spark, patting him on the back happily and then nudging him with her help.

"You're a legend," she said, just as Jill confirmed they were all there an all unhurt. "Well done."

Avery turned to Darius, looking out the window and smiling as they pulled further and further out of the city.

"Spark and I are going to the end of the line. You're welcome to come with us, but if you guys have somewhere to be you don't need to stay. We are out now, do you have somewhere safe to go?"

"As much as we would love to go we would just crowd the base" Jill said ignoring hte kids excited looks "Some time yes but we have the lair to get back to and work to do if were going to help you"

Jill turned to Darius raising an eyebrow "they could really use a hacker" Jill said nodding at the two defenders "so what do you say?"

"I guess I can roll with them for a while" Darius said shrugging "you sure bout this?"

"D I wouldnt ask you if I didnt think it was important" Jill reminded him "Were working together and partners right?" Jill said turning to Siren and raising an eyebrow.

"You'll be safe with us," Avery said, smiling at Darius, "You ever been to the moon?"

She turned to Jill, giving her a serious look.

"You know that you and the kids are welcome at our base if you need refuge," she told her. Of course, John would have to approve that but she knew he wouldn't resist refuge to a group that had gone out on a limb for them. Or, at least if he did, she would find a way to persuade him otherwise. "We have plenty of room."

The train ride was a long one. After half an hour Avery started to feel nervous.

"Spiders, please tell me you hopped that train!" Avery barked down the comm line, hoping like hell he was still in range.

"No supers on guard?" Jane snapped, mind focusing on the here an now. The day hadn't even ended and she had been given a second chance to get to John. She would have gone herself, if she wasn't weakened by Lillian's draining. Damn her lust, and damn the demon, she thought to herself. She straightened her shoulders.

"Guards!" She called out. A moment later the doors opened and two uniformed and hooded guards entered the room. "Get me my Horsemen. NOW!"

Jane turned back to Gerard and smiled.

"Now, while we wait for the reinforcements, why don't you tell me what you have been up to."

As Jane smiled, Gerard's posture visibly relaxed. Anytime that he was in her presence, she threw him off. As attractive as she was, he had seen what happens to those who mistake that for a weakness.

"I just got back from my reconnaissance. The Defender's are in a recruiting frenzy. While we may have put many of their older members out of commission, I have no doubt that there are many newer surprises in store for us in the future."

Gerard failed to mention, however, the Defender's new escape artist, Sparks. While Gerard had been keeping an eye on Defender activity, he had also spent his time undercover to watch the boy. Though Gerard now served the Syndicate in order to stay in power, this young super was the son of old friends. He would do anything in his power to keep him safe. And step one of that meant hiding him from Jane.

"Hmm..." Jane hummed as Gerard spoke. "Good, good."

New recruits meant that the Defender's numbers were up, but it also meant that they would be hard pressed to get themselves in order. So many new people at once would mess with the synergy of their team, and if they were unable to be cohesive it would be that much easier to deal with them.

"Good," Jane said again, "Though I want an inside agent there at all times. Someone who can give us up to date information so there aren't any surprises.
Jane looked back at the bed behind her.

"And what of John?" She asked. That was what she really wanted to know after all. "Did you see him? I noticed that the bird brained slut is back..." Jane trailed off, yer jealousy and disgust clear on her face

She had not cheated on John. She had not forsaken him for a man. Yet he had fallen into bed with the first half breed dimwit that bad flown his way. She pushed her anger aside. She loved him. She would forgive him. She would always forgive him.

Gerard smiled to himself at her obvious jealous streak, and also at fond memories of the past. Back when he had been a Defender, in his younger days, he and John had been close. And on several occasions, Avery had been wedged between them. But that was the past.

Letting the slight smirk slip from his face, he responded, "Yes, they're both back. And I believe that Spectre has returned as well. With his ability to scan minds, I doubt we'd be able to infiltrate their ranks, unless their guard is severely slipping."

Spider POV

"Yes we are" Gregory said closing the train door behind them as they moved along the tracks. After having helped the new guy with his luggage the duo had made it just in the knick of time for the train. They were safely tucked away and soon they were moving across the bridge and leaving the island.

"I will rendevous with you back at base" Spider said pulling out his tablet "theres an old Defenders teleport station just outside of the city the thing should be in working order it just needs to be powered on we can use that to get back to the base" He explained going to sit down by Romeo.

"Darius should be able to get it back on if hes as good as he said" Spider said leaning back and looking over at Romeo.

"So time to tell me your story how do you know my dad? Or whatever it is you call doing what you do" Spider asked leaning in and studying him.

..................

Darius POV

"I am sure the kids will want to visit some time" Jill said smiling softly "but for now we have a home however we will support you guys from the ground as needed"

"Were about out of the city" Darius said checking his lap top "Im going to slow the train down Jill you ready to get out?"

"Yeah we can hack a car from a gas station" Jill said nodding as Darius began to type "its been an honor meeting you I truly mean that" She said as the train began to slow. She suddenly leaned forward kissing Siren as the other kids giggled.

"I always wanted to do that" She said blushing and opening the door "Be good D Dog make sure to let us know when your up in space"

................................

Johnathan POV

"There is no need for infiltration"

Johnathan walked in his voice digitally masked as always as he and the horseman came in. They fanned out before bowing behind Gerard in respect to Jane. Johnathan struggled to control his feelings trying his best to focus on the mission and pleasing her than her soft naked......

"My team and I stand ready Mistress" Johnathan said rising up and moving forward "there is no need to infiltrate the defenders last time you dealt with them you did not have us" Johnathan said nodding at the team behind him.

"Send us in we will kill them or capture them whatever you desire we will make it happen" He said bowing low once more at the foot of her bed "this i swear to you"

.....................................

Maya POV

He came in whistling to himself as he approached her. Maya could already feel teh fear creeping in taking hold and making her heart thump erratically. Instead of avoiding the feeling she took hold of it immersing herself in it as her blood began to pump.

"I got a nice shot for you right here darling" The Warden said flashing a crooked nicotine stained smile "just come to daddy....."

He was almost on her and in that moment every thing snapped into focus. An explosion of some kind sounded above her and the lights went out plunging them both into darkness. Maya felt her reaction slow down and she moved twisting out of the way of the Wardens grab. Her hand came out grabbing his wrist twisting it and using her momentum to plunge the need directionally into his shoulder. She pushed the plunger down but didnt bother to wait instead kneeing him right in the head before running out full tilt.

There were two guards outside firing at some one down the hall. She jumped kicking one over the railing. She pushed herself off the railing tackling the other man and slamming him into the bars.

"I am friendly" She hollered landing and putting her hands behind her head "Dont shoot dont shoot!"

Romeo sat down in the seat with a sigh of relief. He was not terribly unfit, but he had not been prepared for a mad dash to the train station, and channeling Gregory's father had been a drain on his energy. As usual after a possession he felt very hungry, and wished he had thought to bring some kind of snack along with him. But there was no point in wishing for what was not. Gregory was asking Romeo about his father now, and Romeo would have to explain.

"I am a Houngan, a priest of Gede in the Haitian Vodou tradition. It's a family tradition. I was taught by my great grandmother. Gede are the keepers of the dead, and it is a particular talent of my primary patron Gede Nibo to be able to summon and speak to the dead. I knew that I wanted to join The Defender's, but I wasn't sure how to make contact with you, so Nibo made contact for me... with your father. I've only spoken to him briefly myself, enough to know that he was willing to help. I was not expecting Nibo to channel him through me like he did. Your father. He loves you very much. I could feel it while he was inside of me."

Romeo felt the urge to reach out, to take Gregory's hand, but he decided against it. However familiar Gregory felt to Romeo, he could not expect that feeling to be reciprocated. Romeo was still a stranger, still unproven.

" I see" Gregory said turning the information over and over in his head. It was possible that his father would have made contact after all Spectre was proof spirits and the spirit world existed but Gregory had no idea what to do or even how to take the information.

"And I suppose you could bring him forth again so I can speak to him later" Gregory asked raising an eyebrow "I have no doubt given every thing thats happened your drained and we need to focus on the mission right now any ways"

"I dont handle recruitment though given how much the defenders are short right now I have no doubt you will find a place with us" Gregory said pulling out his tablet and going over the map "were going to be teleporting to the moon base and meeting up with the others did you have any questions? Nows the time to ask before your world goes upside down"

Romeo nodded taking in everything that Gregory said. "Yes, I am sure that Nibo can be persuaded to summon your father again... As for questions, I should like to know about the living arrangements of The Defenders. I don't mind if I am to live in a barracks with other recruits, but I very much require a private place to house my altar. The spirits require it, and I shall be of very little use to The Defenders if my patrons are not comfortable in their new home."

"You dont have to worry about that" Gregory said smiling "Right now we have so many rooms we dont know what to do with them no one is sharing a barracks as of yet so theres room for you to have your own room and also for you to have an alter for your friends"

"Get ready to get off" Gregory said getting up "Siren are you there? Were approaching the drop point if D can slow the train down he and I can hop out" Gregory said turning to him and smiling.

Avery Varpulis

Avery was just about to wave Jill goodbye when she ducked forward and kissed her. Before Avery even had a chance to reply the kids were giggling and Jill had pulled away. She felt her cheeks flaming up and she gave the other woman an amused half smile.

Avery heard Gregory's voice through the comms.

"That's where we're headed," she said.

She didn't bother telling him that she would wait for him to arrive before she left. Even though they were both on their trains and chugging away from imminent danger they still had to be careful. They should be able to hold down he fort at the teleporter, and Darius could get it ready so they could jet as soon as Spiders arrived. And if there was trouble they would be there tk help them out.

Soon, Darius was slowing the train and they were getting off it. Siren managed o navigate to the old decrepit warehouse by memory and then she showed Darius to the teleported so he could work its magic.

Avery told Darius and Sparks that they were welcome to go ahead and teleport back to the moon, she didn't expect them to wait for Spiders to arrive. Though she admitted to herself that she wouldn't mind the company as it would be a decent wait.

Darius POV

"Nah I dont know about Sparky over here but I will wait" Darius said moving back from the teleporter and going over to a concrete block

"We tend to not leave guys behind in the Watch Dog" Darius remarked eyeing her up and down "we should have gone with them though I guess I am glad we took the time to get the kids out" He said putting one headphone in and activating his music.

Avery gritted her teeth against the desire to tell Darius every single one of her reasons for not going after Gregory. She would save them for Gregory himself. A discussion she much looked forward to.

Either way Darius had put his earphones in, effectively shutting himself off from her. So instead she went over to Sparks, putting a friendly hand on his shoulder as she did.

"You did well today" she told him with a grin, "I know it got a bit dicey with Spiders and that..." Avery sighed. "Anyway, point is I am glad we had you here. You really helped out."

Aw, fuck yeah.

Jordan's face split in an ecstatic grin as Siren complimented him. While he had felt rather helpless in the combat scenario, and still didn't quite understand how she worked the diplomacy so well, he was glad that she noticed him. He was a Defender, and it was finally starting to feel like it.

"Thanks! I'll do what I can when I can do it, we make a good team!" He said enthusiastically. After today, Jordan was going to do everything he could to be on her squad for the missions. After all, their personalities helped keep things smooth in the field, and, in all honesty, he really liked her. Now that he was starting to see her as more of a friend rather than a legend.

There was no way he'd be leaving to go back to base, either, not when he would be all alone. Sticking together seemed like the best option, and he had already seen how Siren had reacted when Spider split off from the group.

Romeo got ready to follow Spiders. He was glad to know that he would be given a place of his own with The Defenders. Now his most immediate concern was getting his luggage off the train safely. He would rather break a bone than break Baron's cane. "How slow will the train get?" Romeo asked... imagining that it couldn't slow very much. One way or the other he would follow. But he prayed. *Let it be well. Let it be safe. May all of my ancestors hear me and help me to honor my duties to the spirits.*

Seeing that grin on Jordan's face made Avery crack one of her own. She laughed at his enthusiasm, nudging him with her elbow.

"You're just what we need right now," Avery said, thinking of all of the new recruits that they had been flooded with. Untried, untested, and some clearly unable or unwilling to follow direct orders. Not that she expected people to follow blindly, she was pleased when people could stand up for what they believed in. But putting themselves and others at risk?

"Tell me about yourself,"Avery said with a sigh, looking around as they waited for Spiders and his new recruit. "Seeing as you already seem to know a bit about me."

"That does present a problem," Jane agreed with a heavy sigh. "Though with any luck the Horsemen will be able to achieve something today."

Jane turned around, not bothering to dismiss Gerard as she walked into her private bathroom, eager for a bath to ease her aching muscles and clean cum-slicked body.

A few minutes after Jane had sunk into her bath there was a knock on the door, and a familiar voice grumbled through.

"Enter!" She called out. The door opened and she saw one of the horsemen, the tall hulking creature known as Johnathan. "You took your time," she snapped, rubbing a soaped up hand over the curve of her breasts.
