The Defenders Renewed (Group Thread Open To All)

Operations Center, Defenders' Lunar Base

POV Lynx

"The short of it, Commander," Lynx said, the seriousness of the situation making her forgo the casual "Chief" she had always addressed John by, "Is that I was transported by an unknown method from the Russian base to here, just prior to the intervention of the Eleventh Hour force. The longer version..."

Lynx studied the information that she had downloaded on her tablet with a furrowed brow.

"The longer version, Commander, you better wait and see and hear in person," Lynx finally said. "Because it raises more questions than it answers."

Natura's relief at hearing Lynx alive and safe was short lived as a wolf-like creature made of shadow and man leaped at her, pushing her through a melted hole in the wall and thrusting her back into the light of day. It knocked the breath out of her as they tumbled across the concrete, the world spinning around them. The startlingly bright sunlight lent her some more strength, bolstering the effect from the water. She only hoped it would cause the shadow beast to weaken.

The bark on Natura's arms shifted as she wrestled with the beast. two thick wooden stakes of Heracleum mantegazzianum growing into her palms as thick green glossy leaved protected her hands. The vicious points of the giant hogweed stakes had drips of sap glistening on them. Sap that would react with the UV light from the sun and brutally burn any human skin it came into contact with. Any contact would start out red and itching, but with a slight prompt from her powers, it would accelerate into burns and blisters. And that was only touching skin. If she managed to stab the man within the creature...

So Natura and Mr Sinister tumbled about. He was stronger than her, but she was slipperier. She managed to work around so that she was facing him, looking into that giant shadows wolf maw, and stabbing with her hands whereever she could get a chance.

Avery grinned, worried pushed to the back of her mind, as Improv spoke. Good, she liked this one, she could see her mind whirring behind her eyes.

"You're just focusing on one region. I will localise the spiders to whichever sector you select. The spiders will come in from the outer reaches, and I want you to stop them from reaching the sand of this ring."

Avery then turned to Romeo, listening as he explained his intention. She nodded as he spoke.

"It never does well if you compare yourself to others in this group. I assure you, we all feel somewhat helpless at times. Just know that you are here for a reason, and that everything you do has the potential to be incredibly valuable to the team. And there is no need for the 'miss'... Avery or Siren will do. Miss makes me feel old..." Avery patted him on the shoulder.

"But really, if you feel a support role is more your thing, then that is what you can do. That said, even our support team have to be battle ready. So in training I am afraid you'll have to get used to being thrown in the deep end. It's good practice for an emergency really."

Avery took a step back from the young man and spread her wings.

"Give me a moment," She said with a grin. Three strong beats of her wings and a jump saw her rising into the air of the training ground. She spiraled upwards gaining height and enjoying the feel of being airborne, before flying towards the armory on the outer edge of the arena. She ducked into the well-stocked room and grabbed an assortment of laser guns, and shoved them into a bag before flying back to the centre ring. She could have walked, really, but being stuck on the moon base made her wings ache with claustraphobia so the stretch did good things for her.

"Here we are," Avery said, holding the bag out as she dropped back on the sand in front of Romeo. "Laser weapons. The spiders will pick up if they've been shot and they wont harm anyone. You can provide back up for your team mates. And then later we can work on real guns, once you get the hang of it." She grinned at him in her most friendly manner. "Just in case." She added with a wink.

Seeing Natura and Mr. Sinister take the fight outside made Peter have to change gears on the fly. Looking at the situation in the lobby, he saw an opportunity to put Spectre's ghost body to use. "Keep the wall up just a little longer," he called to him over the noise of the continuous rainfall. Reaching toward the roof, Peter stood in his bubble of heated air and started projecting beams of intense infrared radiation at the ceiling. The ceiling tiles burned like paper under the intense heat, blowing away like leaves on the breeze only to be put out when they fell into the persistent rain.

Once the infrastructure of the building was exposed, Peter focused his beams on the point where the frame of the building crossed itself. Hotter and hotter the metal became until he could feel the floor above them groaning. It was going to be tough to gauge when to follow Natura out the hole, but he knew that David would at least be fine. Slowly but surely, he heard the metal groaning in fatigue. "Just a little more..." he told himself. Then, it happened.

The floor above bowed and buckled to form a bowl above him. Peter didn't wait to see what happened next. He just heard the crash and rending noises of folding metal as he dove out the hole that Natura had used. He just hoped he hadn't over done it and hadn't brought the whole building down with Darius inside it. 'He's high enough in the building, surely,' he thought as he saw Natura lashing out with enormous plant-like spikes on the shadowy dog before her.

"Natura, stick your arms out to the sides." He said over the radio, unsure if she was even listening given her level of distress. If she did as he asked, he was planning on scooping her up and carrying her back to the transport. He just hoped she'd let him. Hopefully, Darius was done by now and they could get out of here.

There was a screech and a groan and a crash. Somehow Cloe managed to hear it through the sound of her racing heart and ragged breath, Mr Sinister's grunts and the shadow wolf's growl. She wasn't sure if she had managed to land a blow with her hogweed stakes or not, it was hard to tell where the shadows started and Sinister's body began.

Then, through the strange cacophony of noise, Natura heard Peter's voice over the comms. It took her a moment to realise what he had said. Lift her arms to the side? She wanted to, she trusted him of course, but she was stuck in the scuffle.

Though she didn't have to be.

Natura split her focus; a dangerous move when she was stuck in a tumbling fight, but she did. She summoned one of her spirit animals; this time she didn't bother reaching deep enough to make it look good. It was there for pure force and nothing more. A split second later a large wolf leapt from deep within her, shimmering with the light of the spirit it was made of, slamming against the darkness of Sinister's shadow. In that moment Natura jumped to her feet and cast her arms out, hoping she wasn't leaving herself vulnerable to an attack.

Come on Peter, she thought to herself as she braced for whatever was to come.

SPECTRE

(Operation Data Acquisition in Russia)

"Infra-Sapien whatever you have planned do it fast" David growled his barrier holding over the combined might of the constructs attack. He could hold it, he knew he can he wasnt even worried about that.

It was the two women he was worried about

Spectrum formed purple claws tearing off the last of the vines covering Macrames mouth.

"I want them destroyed" Spectrum screeched pulling Macrame up with a yank

"Here it comes!" David hollered noting the way the roof was starting to buckle. David focused pushing the barrier out and sending the constructs toppling. He could see Macrame begining to open her mouth and he rose his hands sending out a large blast of green energy directly at the spot Peter was heating up.

The results were instantaneous

The floor toppled and David watched as the two villains dove to get out of the way. David didnt bother instead his body went intangible as he phased through the debris.

"Holy shit dawg!" Darius said over the radio "You trying to topple the fucking building down?"

"Infra-Sapien good work" David remarked watching Spectrum and Macrame moving to the elevators "Targets arent down but we can make our escape D-man im coming to you Infra-Sapien go get Natura and go back to the ship and get ready to pick us up in the air"

Ops Station Alpha

SPIDER POV

"The commander is in the air" Gregory said over the general COMS "The Caliban team is on its way back with no causalities to report"

He leaned back in relief sighing and turning to glance at Lynx "Sorry for the brush off at first these two away teams our harder than I thought"

He turned eyeing the vitals on the Russian team out of the corner of his eyes "So was it some thing that sent you back? Or some one?" He asked her genuinely curious.

RUNNER POV

"If you werent ready now then all that weaponry should make you feel better" Maya said shaking her head and not able to hold back the snort.

"Improv if your ready im ready" maya remarked spinning the Eskirma stick in her hands. She turned on her heels moving over to the circle. She would let the two decide what point they were defending from. It didnt matter to her, this felt good hell it felt better than sex! The adrenalin flow the thought of battle of competition it was like a drug to her baiting her into more.

And shit did she want more

"How bout we raise the stakes a bit Siren" Maya said turning on her heels a sudden cocky smirk crossing her face "Why dont you lead the spiders this time? Show us how we fare against powered opponents"

Training Arena

Avery couldn't help but chuckle at Maya's challenge.

"As much as I would love to Maya my job right now is to watch you guys, get a good sense of your abilities. If I am part of the fight I wont be able to do that as well. But don't you worry- I'll be chucking myself into the mix soon enough."

Peter heard the all clear from Spectre. His plan appeared to have worked. Looking up, he saw Cleo push herself away from the shadow dog enough and assume the cross position as he had asked. "Good girl..." he muttered to himself as he bounded forward once... twice... and on the third leap forward, he caught Natura under the armpits, hoisting her up into the air with him. He knew he'd be more than a little warm to the touch, but her extra layer of bark should protect her.

Up and up he rose like a hot air balloon on the breeze. "Nearly there..." he said to her reassuringly as he slid his arms around her a little tighter. He didn't really need to hold all that more tightly; it just happened. Rising back up the building, he spied the roof still free of foes and set her down gently before landing behind her.

"Are you okay?" he asked softly, still not letting her go yet. Smelling the odor of withering plant matter, Peter realized how long he'd been holding her. "Oh, shoot. Is the Chlorophyll Company okay? I didn't damage anything, did I?" He asked, letting go and turning her to face him so he could look for damaged plants. But, he froze suddenly as if a thought occurred to him.

"Wait, that can wait; I gotta spin up the transport." He said, stepping around Cleo and up the ramp of their transport ship. Peter's hands became a flurry of flipping switches and activating systems as the transport roared back to life. He just hoped he had enough time to get it operational before the 3 villains caught up with them.

One minute Cloe was hoping Peter would hurry and the next moment he was there, hands under her arms, lifting her up into the air. For the first few moments as the ground receded beneath her, all she could feel was relief at the way that the spirit wolf and Mr Sinister were growing smaller and smaller. Peter's warmth was radiating through her bark armor and seeping into her skin, soothing her. Though her relief soon faded into concern when she realised Peter was rising completely of his own accord. Her heart leaped into her throat and the ground suddenly seemed (dangerously) far away. It was at that moment that Peter chose to hold her tighter, and despite the fact that they were so high in the air, and getting higher every moment, it provided her with a great deal of comfort. So she ignored the way that his warmth turned to heat, how it made her flora wilt, how it tugged at the remnants of her strength.

Cloe felt a wonderful sense of relief as her feet touched the roof of the building. The Defenders craft was only a few feet away and they were safe and enemy free for the moment. Peter spoke still holding her close as he turned her in his arms.

"I'm - it's fine," Cloe said, looking at him in a mix of appreciation and curiosity. So these were the new abilities he had been wanting to show them. She was impressed. Very impressed. She was about to say more when his face change and he dashed off to start up the engines. She could only assume that David and Darius were on their way.

"Spectre, Darius; how much longer till you reach us?" Natura asked, now suspicious of the relative silence of the roof. She called down to her bark armor, sending it positive thoughts as it struggled to recover from the scorching heat of
Peter's skin. In a few seconds she had coaxed it into growing two thick, thorned stakes for her, and she reached deep within to draw out the spirit of a hawk. When the hawk burst forth from her she took control of it, sending it spiraling above her, seeing through its eyes and keeping watch of the roof top as she protected the entrance to the aircraft.

Romeo/Kid Crux POV

"Laser weapons. The spiders will pick up if they've been shot and they wont harm anyone. You can provide back up for your team mates. And then later we can work on real guns, once you get the hang of it." She grinned at him in her most friendly manner. "Just in case." She added with a wink.

Romeo smiled as he picked up a gun that resembled a pistol and then slung another rifle style weapon over his back. "Oh, I know how to shoot. I've been handling firearms since I was eleven. My dad is a cop. I never practiced enough to get as good as him, but I can usually hit a target. Do these need to reload... recharge... or anything?"

He aimed away from people and took a look down the sights. Even if these didn't shoot live ammunition, he had been drilled enough on gun safety never to point a weapon toward bodies unless he meant to damage them. So far he had never targeted a real person in his life.

This gun was lighter weight than he was used to, but that would be a benefit rather than a draw back. This would be more like playing laser tag, than shooting down a range. The challenge sounded like fun. He had been so concerned about his lack of impressive powers that he'd nearly forgotten that his simple life skills might be just as useful in this kind of exercise. "Thanks Avery!"

----------

Imogen/Improv POV

"I don't know about you guys, but I would be most comfortable taking on this challenge in the urban setting."

She looked over at the area of the training field that resembled a city street. The buildings looked like they had seen some heavy abuse in the past, and one of the cars was upside down and partially blocking the street. Her mind was already envisioning how she could defend the territory.

"I'd be good with that," Romeo answered, "What do you think Maya?"

Adam/Greywolf

Avery took in the words of Maya and Greywolf before she spoke.

"Okay, the task I set was to stop the spiders from reaching the sparring sand, to defend us from their approach. You did that, even if your defence was more of an offence. The purpose of the task was to show me what sort of abilities you have, and if you have the ability to work together with other people."

Avery took a step towards Greywolf the dust stirred up during the training exercise, Adam still has in his long black hair and on his body.

"Most of our team came to us after working solo for years. Decades even. Learning to harness your abilities for your own purpose is one thing, but then applying the discipline and restraint it takes to be part of a team is another matter entirely."

Adam nods understandingly realizing he's the true newbie that is in training on the moon. His inner wolf rumbles in Adam's mind *We should have used our gift to help Jamison* -Quiet, let me listen to Avery- His attention focusing on what she had to say-

Avery's expression was a grim smile also unnerving as her eyes met his he tries hard not to look away. "You lost control. It happens. That is why we are in training. Your ability is incredible, and once you are all trained up I have no doubt you have the potential to be of great service to our goals."

Adam met Avery's eyes with a understanding yet finally determined light in his eyes. For her to say you both what he only saw as failure to. He had a feeling the training would get tougher if he didn't respond positively to it. Greywolf is listening understanding what applied to him, as the Pack leader was speaking. He'd listen to Adam's direction next time they were called on to preform, as she says our ability was incredible. The big wolf knew he and Adam must fight as a united Pack of two and be able succeed with the Pack.

"So despite the unexpected start, you worked well as a team. You communicated, you protected the center."

Greywolf tilted his head thinking this to Adam. *All I did was listen to the female packmate called Black Ant* The other Female called Runner didn't speak, that only meant she didn't like me. -Doing our job, is the only thing that can change someones mind. Some it won't-
Adam allows Greywolf to speak his mind. -Crossing his fingers behind his back- He would speak with Adam's voice, but the deep gravely tone was all he's doing. The dirty rascal.

"Greywolf will be a better Wolf for Adam, Pack Members, Avery our Pack Leader and Alpha Commander John. I swear by the Great Spirit, Earth Mother and the Spirit Wolf. He will give ultimate power to those in need when Darkness tries to overcome the Defenders. We all shall rise up to overcome this Darkness and strike with a force as yet unseen by the evil ones."

That was all GreyWolf had to say as Adam was left with a sore throat, after he's had his voice altered in such a harsh way. Rubbing his throat he has to be quiet till his voice returns after he doesn't speak for an hour or two. If only anyone understood Navajo sign language he could at least communicate.

Back On Base

The commanders jet slid into the docking bay its jets kicking up some lingering dust from past missions as they came to a stop. It circled for a few seconds before it landed the ramp descending almost immediately as a worried commander rushed off.

COMMANDER POV

"You guys did great" John told them turning "We can have an official debrief in a few but for now go get washed off and then your free to go ill collect you guys later"

"You got it commander" Orror said nodding and turning to talk with her sister. John nodded at Zuya and turned moving to the OPS center.

"Hows the team?" John asked coming in and nodding at Lynx.

"Doing well all things considered" Gregory replied fingers tapping "Darius is done with the hack and there moving to pick him up now well at least David is once they have him they will exfiltrate"

"good good let me know if that changes" John said nodding at him before moving over to Lynx "Now what happened? And what did you find?"

........................................

THUNDERESS POV

"Well I dont know about you but a shower sounds nice" Orror said stretching her hands above her head "Though I didnt get to participate much.... Hmmm perhaps the training group is still going on? What do you say sister? Shall we go stretch out powers? Your more than welcome to join us.... Zuya" Orror said turning to the other woman and giving her a big grin.

..........................................

RUNNER POV

"Bah I dont care" maya said bouncing on the balls of her feet unable to stop the smirk on her face now "I just want to start!'

She clapped Romeo on the back and blew a surprising kiss to Black Ant before she moved to the circle. Her mind began to work noting the corners and the angles as she twirled the Eskirma stick in her hand. They would come from the cars and houses using them as cover. Of course she could as well having Improv stay back to defend and having Romeo cover her as she cleared the buildings.

If they were willing to listen

"Heres the plan im thinking" Maya said as they moved over to the circle and Avery got set up "Romeo if you can cover and Improv you can gaurd to the main circle I can move in and clear the buildings"

Russia

SPECTRE POV

"I am picking him up now" David replied answering Cloe question. He poured on the speed shooting up the final floors and appearing in the server room.

"Tell me your done" David growled going over the young man

"Not nearly as done as you would like me to be" Darius replied getting up and shrugging his backpack on "but some thing is better than nothing at the very least they wont know we ever hit them"

"Good" David replied grabbing him and phasing him out "Infra-Sapien get the plane in the air and hurry.... I can hear them down below"

David phased them out and took off moving through the building and out into the air. He didnt bother to hit the roof where they were starting the craft instead flying in a arc that would take him right into the jets flight path.

POV Zuya Wagner and Wind Hunter

"You will forgive me I hope, sister, but I need to find a private place to meditate," Alya said. Now that the crisis was over, the episodes that she had experienced, and had not known she had experienced, were again at the forefront of her mind.

"Normally, getting my butt kicked in training would be at the top of my fun day list," Zuya answered Orror, "But I need to talk to some of my contacts at Interpol, and exchange notes on what happened today. Rain check?"

Training - Moon Base - Makoto

It was good that Avery had supplied the boy with some way to contribute. The way he'd described his abilities was...troubling, to her mind. Number one, it meant more magic. Magic was unreliable, inexplicable, and generally tended towards madness from her experience. The fact that it seemed like he lost control to some other entities wasn't reassuring. He seemed like a nice enough person on the face of things but who knew about whatever creatures would take hold of him?

Adam and Graywolf seemed the same, listening to him and then the clearly different voice of the beast speak. Wonderful. More magical multiple personalities. Her lips pressed into a grimace but they shifted into a small smile when Maya spoke up, eager and brazen. They had only just met but she liked the girl. Her fire was appealing. As was her form.

She flushed lightly having even thought of such a thing. That was not appropriate. Not one bit.

The way her powers worked was interesting. Makoto felt an itch of curiosity; could she find a way to mitigate these crashes? A biological solution would take considerable time and research but she could help the Defenders with that, once they realized her expertise. She'd make herself available. But a technological solution could help in the short term. Adrenaline was a chemical like any other; it could be synthesized. She could make some sort of injection mechanism...hmm.

She'd mention it to Maya and Avery when training was done. However, she did want to say something to the winged beauty now that almost all of the other 'trainees' were away from her and making ready to begin. "Avery, gomen, I'm sorry, Avery-san." She shouldn't assume such closeness, especially with Avery not knowing the truth yet. "I do not wish to distract but, if I may, when training is over...I would like to speak with you about something very personal and important. In private, please. At your leisure, of course."

Operations Center, Defenders' Lunar Base

"Yes, what I found," Lynx began, as she decided the best way to sanitize her description. Lynx led the Commander to a screen away from where Greg was running the Russian operations. From there, she brought up an image of a long-haired woman who looked to be of Middle Eastern origin, dressed in a flowing blue dress.

"This is an entity that calls herself Erotisi. I say entity because, though she may appear human, there are several indicators that she is clearly not human." Lynx explained to the Commander. "Most of what we know is pure supposition. She's..." Lynx looked from the screen to the Commander. "She's ancient. And powerful. It's suspected she predates ancient Sumer, and that she may have been the driving force behind the Late Bronze Age Collapse. After that," Lynx shrugged. "After that, it appears she lost interest in humanity. She does interact with us from time to time, but whatever her agenda is, it doesn't directly involved the rest of us mere mortals. Which is probably a good thing."

"And she's what pulled me from the fight." Lynx frowned. "She stopped time, Commander. I don't know whether it was real or subjective, but time froze while she talked to me. She read my mind. Without any trouble, Commander. I've felt other individuals try, but you know my...unique nature." Outside of the Commander, Avery and a few of the original Defenders, almost no one knew that Lynx wasn't human, but a member of a different intelligent species. "I've been immune to every attempt at a telepathic attack. But this Erotisi. She had no problem sifting around in my head."

"And she left me with this, before she transported me here." Lynx held up a memory stick. Which contained this." Lynx brought up another image on the screen.

erotisi.jpg

"This," she said, pointing to the formula occupying the top half of the screen, "I think it might refer to a..." Lynx stared in silence, then pointed to the figure in the right hand lower corner. "This is movement in higher dimensions. I think. Maybe. This..." she pointed to the matrices and the graphs. "Cosmological entropy? Commander, Esotiri told me to keep this private, but I'm assuming she meant the results. Because this..." she said with a gesture at the screen "...this is going to take time. And I'm going to need help. If you have no objections, I'd like to pull Alejandra Fuentes...Tetra...out of training. She's a savant in the mathematics of topology. I haven't been able to get a hold of her though, Commander. She's still on the base, isn't she?"

After hearing David through the comms Natura said a hasty farewell and thanks to her spirit hawk and then turned, dashing up the ramp and towards a seat in the craft, she buckled herself in with only a miniscule amount of dread at being in the air again.

"Good to go," she called out to Peter, her fingers clenching the armrests and hoping it wasn't going to be too wild of a ride.

Training Arena

As Maya, Romeo, Improv and Spark set about discussing strategies, Adam spoke to Avery. Avery listened in awe as the man's voice changed; the tone suddenly gravelly, deep and sounding as though it should not be in the vocal range of any human. Greywolf, the voice identified as, and she could see a near imperceptible shift in the man as he was taken by the inner spirit.

"Thank you Greywolf, and thank you Adam. I am grateful that we have you on our team, and have no doubt that, with training, you will be able to do exactly as you vowed." Avery would have spent more time wondering at the marvel of these new heroes, but Black Ant stepped towards her and started speaking. Avery listened to what she said and nodded with an open smile.

"Of course Kuroari, when training is finished I am sure we will be able to find the right time and place. And please, Avery is fine. Your Sensei was an old friend of mine, and I would like to think that you could be too."

Defenders' Lunar Base

POV Zuya Wagner

"...and after the Commander talked him down, Caliban just strolled out. And then we flew off into the sunset," Zuya concluded.

The voice at the other end of the conversation said something, which made Zuya shrug. Realizing that the owner of the other voice couldn't see her motions, she added, "I don't know. The Syndicate tried to recruit him, but I think he's got his own agenda. Listen, I know those of us who are seeing things for what they are, consider Jane as the apex of the evil pyramid, but this Caliban, I just don't know. With Jane, it's just going to be a matter of assembling enough firepower to take her out. This Caliban guy...all I'm saying is, that there's something behind the curtain we're not seeing, and any sane person would be worried about that."

Zuya listened for a little while, then laughed. "I appreciate the standing job offer at Interpol, but for now I'm happy here. Well, I'm needed here anyway. But it appears I need to come up with some call sign or handle or something." Zuya listened to the other side of the conversation, and then burst out laughing. "Hey, what happened on Macau should stay on Macau. I'm thinking of telling the Commander just to call me Mountie."

Zuya listened some more and her face grew more somber. "I can't say anything about that, and you know it. But if I were to say something about it, yeah, maybe somebody talked to me about it and wanted me to head it up. If it ever takes off. And if it is actually real. Which I'm not saying."

"Listen," Zuya said, as she stood up, brushing off her clothes. "I'll have to give you a call back. Got to get to a debrief. But we'll definitely need to get a girl's night out together again. Just not to Macau!" With a laugh, Zuya ended her call.

Defenders' Lunar Base

POV Wind Hunter

Normally it was easy for Alya to enter a meditative state, no matter what was happening in her life.

But not today.

It should have been easy for her to enter a centered state, considering how peacefully their encounter had went, but the episodes that she wasn't even aware that she had been experiencing were nagging at her, preventing her from achieving her balance.

With an exasperated sigh, Alya abandoned her attempts at meditation, instead executing a kata that required her to concentrate. Maybe that would put her worries aside for the moment, she hoped.

"Thank you Greywolf, and thank you Adam. I am grateful that we have you on our team, and have no doubt that, with training, you will be able to do exactly as you vowed."

Adam was quickly getting used to watching Wolf talking to someone, it was different when he's running and free and hunting on instinct. After getting all trained up as Avery had put it, After Greywolf acknowledges Avery with a grunt and a nod. His consciousness recedes to the back of Adam's mind, basically does the equivalent of turning around three times to lay down and fall asleep. It was a relief when the big guy fell asleep Adam got the chance to relax as well.

He wasn't prepared for the feel of swallowing glass after Wolf speaks, since Adam couldn't speak for awhile he just listens. As Maya, Romeo, Improv and Spark discuss their various strategies Adam was intrigued. With his Teammates speaking of strategies he's learning a little bit of each ones. Some were like hunting in the ancient ways, smiling he thinks of his Uncle Jamison teaching him. They would always be useful as the technology of the Spear and Bow had advanced, to the point that they had become much more accurate in up to date weaponry. Other strategies were things he wasn't ready for yet, Greywolf knew by instinct how to get the job done. But in the end it would be as if you release the proverbial Bull in a china shop, the others who were attune to their powers it would be like a surgical strike.

Adam feels grimy with the sand Greywolf stirred up covering his body and working it's way into intimate places. A shower to rid his body of sand would be nice, as he's thirsting for a nice cold one. His stomach growls so loudly he looks around to see if anyone heard it, a hot meal with company was all he wanted. Well ... not exactly all he wanted. But it was certainly all that he was going to get. Especially way up here on the Moon. If Davina from back home knew where that teleporter was, she/he would be curled up in his bed right at this second. Hearing a crash from the Urban environment his daydream suddenly interrupted.

Wishing he could just say something like ... "Excuse me Avery, but would it be alright to go shower? I wasn't given quarters so I don't know where to go" Hoping they don't have mist showers to save water, like in a multitude of Scifi movies he'd seen over years of geeking out on the couch. ComicCon he looked forward to every year and any other opportunity.

Imogen/Improv POV

"Romeo if you can cover and Improv you can gaurd to the main circle I can move in and clear the buildings"

Improv smiled at Maya's suggestion, "That's exactly what I was thinking. I'll take the rearguard and set a defensive barrier on the this end of the street. The two of you just need to stay forward of the last five feet of the defense zone. I'm going to weave a spider web, to catch any spiders that get past you. Just make sure, to holler to me if you need to retreat so I can take it down before you come through. You won't be able to see it, but if you hit the barrier too fast it'll take your legs out from under you. You got all that Kid?"

---------

Romeo/Kid Crux POV

Romeo was still playing with his guns but he caught every word. "Sound's good to me. I'll keep behind Maya, and ahead of your web, and if I need to fall back I'll let you know."

The team began moving into place. Despite his initial trepidation Romeo was ready to go. He slipped on Nibo's ring. *Keep back enough so I can shoot, but be ready to take over if the spiders end up on top of us. And please, whatever you do, don't forget about the barrier!*

*Ha ha! Now you sound like a powerful houngan!" Nibo sent a thrill of anticipation through Romeo's body, then rested back at the ready, as he was instructed.
