The curious case of Sherlocks Heart (closed)

She smiled.

I know that what you saw changed alot of thoughts in your mind Sherlock. It was written all over your face as we left the old building.

How much have I changed from that dance in your mind now that you have seen my duty to the crown?

John started to go call them to dinner but stopped. They were still talking so whatever happened Sherlock was still willing to talk learn and if Mrs Hudson was right to care. After all he did not want to interrupt two intimate moments in one afternoon.

Sherlock thought back to that dance and how nice it felt to hold a beautiful woman again. He thought for a long time after Irene that he could make do in his life without that. Feeling that again reminded him that he couldn't. He looked at her again.

"I'd like to finish our dance if you're still interested." Sherlock's voice was barely a whisper as he gave voice to his desires for the first time in a long time. He didn't even hear John at the top of the stairs; only Iara filled his senses right now.

Standing she started the song again biting her lip looking at him

Well then... dance with me Sherlock.

Sherlock smiled as he stood with Iara. Stepping in close, he slid an arm around to the small of her back as he took her hand in his. Holding it out to the side, he moved as he had learned. As the music filled his head, he stepped in a bit closer. As he felt her lithe body against his, he closed his eyes and just enjoyed the sensation again. Sherlock dare not speak and ruin the moment. He was content to hold Iara and move to the music with her.

Her eyes never leaving his her hand resting on his chest. The music enveloping them as they danced. Slowly she curled closer against him feeling secure and comfortable with him. Her fingertips dancing over his chest as she smiled.

As they danced, Sherlock whispered. "You... don't have to stay down in this dank basement while you are in hiding. I can make room for you upstairs, if you like," he offered. Swallowing, he sighed at how nice it felt to feel her reciprocate and draw in closer. Feeling her rest her head on his chest, he smiled at the show of trust she was making in that moment.

What do you have in mind and the room is really not that bad.

She lifted her head to look at him as another soft song by the artist began. A faint purr slithering from her as she watched his eyes and smiled.

Sherlock blushed as he heard that purr. "I just thought after so long alone that you'd like some... company rather than hide away alone again." He offered, still not sure what he was offering. He knew he didn't like the idea of her down here as if she was worthy of shame like this.

Okay... we will see how it goes

She bit her lip as they danced curling close still to him. This was so foreign to her but felt so comfortable.

After a while, Sherlock stopped dancing and simply stood there, his arms around Iara. He looked down into her eyes and bit his lip. He felt this urge rising, but it was too soon. She was still vulnerable after the events of tonight. "We,uh... we should check if dinner is ready..." Sherlock said, but didn't move to let her go yet.

She sniffed at the air slightly.

Yes I think it's ready funny they did not come down here to tell us.

She nuzzled her cheek and forehead against his cheek in an almost unconscious show of affection and companion comfort but did not move from his arms.

Sherlock closed his eyes as Iara rubbed up against him. It felt a little odd, but knowing that there was a feline affection beneath it, it was nice all the same. He smiled at her observation. "I suspect that was Mrs. Hudson's doing. I'll have to thank her later..." He said as his hands drifted down her back to take her hand as they turned toward the door.

"Shall we?" he asked, smiling over at her.

Lead the way.

She smiled holding his hand and walking with him. She wondered since Mycroft had gotten involved with the police investigation if he would need to be told about here. The royal family would make the decision if she was revealed to him or not.

Sherlock walked upstairs with Iara's hand in his. He saw John and Mrs. Hudson pause and smile when they saw him with her like this. Sherlock quickly cleared his throat. "It was merely a precaution on those narrow stairs in the back," he explained, moving briskly to the table and sitting down. "What are we having?" he asks, trying to shift attention from himself.

Mrs Hudson simply smiled and began setting the food out. Garlic herb swai fish with roasted onions and potatoes and a spring greens salad with strawberries. For dessert a surprise.

John just smiled to the two of them and held out the chair first for Iara then for Mrs Hudson.

Sounds wonderful. Been quite some.time since I have had Swai fish.

"I trust Mrs. Hudson didn't have the pan heat too high," Sherlock needled her as he always did when it came to cooking. It was a major reason why they couldn't be in the kitchen together.

It was delicious, but he dare not mention it; he'd hate to give her the satisfaction. He looked around, smiling to himself as his found family surrounded the table tonight. "I trust you will be staying in for the rest of the night, Iara? Surely even Lestat's incompetent squad has found the latest demon by now."

Yes and the final target being mostly human is probably in hiding they can be directed to find him and this spree will be nearly wrapped up then a day or two to rest then I have the royal visit as you two were told about.

Casting a glance to Mrs Hudson who simply smiled at her.

I do hold concerns that with the fact that they were bold enough to try to have a business hive here that the family may ask me to allow your brother to know who I am. They may make it my decision they usually do and I have never chosen to tell him yet but things are a little different this time.

She glanced to Sherlock and smiled.

"So, if your work is done, will you go back to wherever you go between jobs?" Sherlock asked, sounding a little nervous that Iara would be leaving. "As for my brother, I'm sure learning about you wouldn't crack the top 20 of things he's had to keep secret in his line of work." Sherlock added. "But it is your decision ultimately."

Like I said... this visit has been different. I could stick around till called somewhere else. Nomadic life is fun but... I do enjoy my place here too.

She sensed something with him. Hearing that Mrs Hudson smiled.

We could open that little studio apartment up some and brighten it up with better lights and more permanent arrangement of furniture as well.

"It's not really been put to use all this time. I thought it was Mrs. Hudson's storage space all this time so you're welcome to it." Sherlock says, adding his support to the idea. "Having your own space to return to and feel safe must be a welcome break from time to time." He added, trying to make this sound like the better alternative.

Exactly. That way no one ever knew I was here not even you.

She smirked still finding it funny that he never knew she had stayed there before. She knew they would discuss what he had offered downstairs later.

The dinner passed with surprisingly friendly and warm conversation. Despite what Iara was doing and the nature of her work, all of that was a problem for the outside world. In here, around this table, none of that mattered. All that mattered was the good friends and family around this table for now.

Sherlock set himself the task of cleaning up after the meal since he didn't make it. There was some comfort in watching the plates and pans come clean unlike the case had turned out. He focused on that and it helped settle his mind after what he'd learned over the past few days. As he was drying things off, he wondered where Iara had gone after dinner.

She was sitting in the other room talking with John. His own medical curiosity getting the better of him as they talked about her transformations. A knock on the door and she was quickly shifted to tiny housecat form and under the couch to hide.

Lestrade was at the door.

We got something... well it might be something. Found another body but this time it looks like someone knelt down by it.

The man seemed quite pleased but it was more hope that this could be something helpful to crack this case finally.

"Unless you have a long list of knee prints, I'm not sure how that helps us, but after you Lestrade. Let's see what our invisible killer has done this time." Sherlock said, sounding annoyed as he was when the last time that Lestrade saw him. He couldn't let on about Iara or what he knew about the killer now. He followed the Inspector downstairs and rode with him to the crime scene, even though Sherlock had walked it earlier that day.

John rode along shooting Sherlock a look till he heard Lestrades next statements.

No we dont smart guy but the coroner can get an idea of exact height and possible weight of the possible murderer from it. If John here can help and you can just go wander around like you do while we get some work done.
