Juno made a successful approach, and is now orbiting Jupiter.

For the first time, we have actual footage of moons orbiting a planet, seen from above the ecliptic.

It is worth noting that the linked image was taken six days ago on June 29th while the spacecraft was still over three million miles away. It has been hauling some major ass to get to an orbit which, at its closest point, is only 2,900 miles above the tops of Jupiter's clouds.

Absolutely amazing!

Juno exceeded 250,000 mph on it's final approach to Jupiter. That should make it the fastest human built object yet.

What's that 4/10,000th of the speed of light?
